Shawn Michaels Talks Main Roster Call Ups And Adjusting In NXT
Shawn Michaels took part in a media conference Thursday morning, discussing the upcoming WWE NXT Battleground PPV in Lowell, MA. During that call, he was asked to comment on a number of topics, some of which centered around WWE's main roster calling up around 15 different talents and all but draining his NXT roster of some of its biggest names.
Michaels shed light on the future of the brand and its talents and as for any concerns he might have about NXT's talent being drafted to the main roster, he's not really concerned. "A big hit is a positive thing," he said. He enjoys the challenge of creating new superstars, while refocusing and making it work and said he's happy for the stars who are getting an opportunity on Raw and SmackDown. Michaels singled out Grayson Waller as someone with tremendous potential and described Waller as a consummate professional, adaptable to any situation. Michaels also mentioned the uniqueness and special qualities of Indi Hartwell and Xyon Quinn, expressing pride in the Australian talents who have emerged from NXT.

He was asked about Bron Breakker's status in NXT and if there was any concern he might get called up, Michaels remained optimistic that Breakker will thrive in NXT. He doesn't have any say in who goes and who stays, he expressed confidence in Breakker's potential and foresaw exciting matches in his future. Michaels thinks Breakker has unfinished business in NXT as well.
How Much Notice Was Michaels Given Before Losing Everyone?
When asked about the notice he received regarding the draft, Michaels stated that he had a decent idea of what the WWE main roster is looking for, indicating that he was comfortable with the decisions made. Pretty Deadly and Isla/Alba were too talented for the main roster not to want and while losing 15 talents will significantly have an impact on the show, he prides himself on being able to adjust and pivot. You have to see if you can do that and do it successfully. There were some surprises but nothing he feels he can't handle.
