Scott Steiner's Final 10 WCW Matches, Ranked Worst To Best
Scott Steiner was a consistent force in WCW his entire run with the company. The rise from the babyface tag team member with his brother, Rick Steiner, to massive superstar (both literally and figuratively), was one of the great long-term arcs of WCW. "Big Poppa Pump" was one of the best aspects of a company that, at one point, ruled the entire world of wrestling.

By the time Steiner competed in his last matches at WCW the company was in turmoil, and he was the captain trying to steer the sinking ship. Although the programming at WCW wasn't at its peak, "Big Poppa Pump" was still performing at a high level and had some great matches in the last days of Nitro and Thunder. This list examines the last ten televised matches of Steiner's career from best to worst.
10 Jeff Jarrett & Scott Steiner Vs Dustin Rhodes, Two On One Handicap, Thunder
Steiner's last match on Thunder was not near the level of his greatest bouts on the program. This episode of Thunder was also the last episode of Thunder. Yes, the main event of the last Thunder ever was a handicap match that Steiner and Jarrett dominated. The bout was as entertaining as any "two-on-one" match could be.
Steiner's addition to this match seemed forced since Jarrett and Rhode were involved in a long feud over the last year of WCW, and it seemed the program just wanted Steiner involved. This was also the only time Dustin and Steiner competed in a televised match at WCW.
9 Vs The Cat, Thunder
Anyone who saw "Ernest 'the Cat' Miller Vs Scott Steiner" on the card for WCW Thunder probably (and rightfully) assumed it would be a normal "Big Poppa Pump" beatdown. Most would assume it would end in three seconds with no stakes and that was that. WCW actually made this one more interesting than that.

No, The Cat was not able to compete with Steiner face to face, but they added enough interference and low blows from Miller that the bout stayed interesting. Let's face it, fans love an upset and enough was done to keep this one interesting, but was, in the end, still a gimmick-ridden match.
8 Vs Hugh Morrus, Thunder
Scott Steiner was in prime form in this match. Hugh Morrus was the kind of competitor that made Steiner look like a beast in the ring. Morrus was a big man who could sell huge grapple moves and Steiner put on a show on this Thunder main event. The match was absolute domination by Steiner who destroyed Morrus.
Although it did little to boost either star's profile, this match was one of those "give the fans what they want" bouts. Big men like Nash, Goldberg, and Steiner obliterating opponents in main event matches that had no stakes were not uncommon on WCW television even down to the last days of the company.
7 Vs Kevin Nash, Falls Count Anywhere Retirement / WCW World Heavyweight Title, SuperBrawl Revenge
The build-up to this match was great. They made it seem unsure if Nash would even show up to the match. Pre-social media, you could actually surprise an audience with a lingering question like "will the injured star show up." Nash shows up and fakes an injury and the match itself was entertaining, the only problem was Ric Flair, who was the "boss" at WCW, kept changing the stipulation of the match after it seemed as if Nash would walk away with the title.
The odds being clearly stacked against him and having no chance to win sucked the air out of the match. It was a microcosm of all the problems WCW had at the time, a great build-up for a laughable delivery.
6 Buff Bagwell & Lex Luger & Scott Steiner Vs Booker T. & Diamond Dallas Page & Ernest Miller, Nitro
This six-man tag team match was the last of Steiner's WCW career. Teaming Steiner with "Totally Buff" was more fun than anyone expected the match to be. Booker T had just returned to Nitro after three months away from the ring and stole the show

If anyone was unsure who would take the World Heavyweight Championship throne after Steiner, Booker T made it clear who was next up. With such star power and fanfare for the return of Booker, this one is still a fun watch to this day.
5 Vs Booker T, Thunder
The final rivalry between Booker T and Steiner had so much potential. Booker was one of the few wrestlers on the roster fans could actually buy stopping "big poppa pump." His return to WCW television in this match on Thunder was one of, if not the best, moments of the final days of the program.
The chemistry between the two was undeniable and even though the match ended in a DQ finish when Rick Steiner interfered, it was a great match overall. So much is said about how poorly WCW was run, but guys like Booker T and Steiner deserve credit for putting on great performances despite the impending doom around them.
4 The Steiner Brothers Vs Booker T and DDP, Nitro
This match was the last time fans ever saw the Steiners perform on WCW. The build to the tag team main event on Nitro was clear through weeks of interference from Rick and Scott in their respective solo storylines. The Steiners helped establish the tag team division at WCW and here they were (Rick as United Stated Champion and Scott as World Champion) in the second to last episode of Nitro.
The pairing of DDP and Booker T was also fun. The near 10-minute bout between the four was great and the clean win from Booker T and DDP was a shocker considering how hot Rick and Scott were at the time.
3 Vs Kevin Nash, WCW World Heavyweight Title, Nitro
Although their last match in WCW at Superbrawl was ridden with interference from Ric Flair, their last match on Nitro was an old-school classic until the end. The man who currently was the face of WCW, Steiner, faced the person who helped build WCW into the number one show, Nash.
Although the match was short, it was filled with action. Nash proved he was still a force in wrestling and gave Steiner one of the best beatdowns he had received on Nitro in weeks. Fans were on their feet as it seemed Nash would win another World Championship, but interference led to a DQ non-title victory for Nash.
2 Vs DDP WCW World Heavyweight Title, WCW Greed
"Greed" was WCW's last pay-per-view and the main event was DDP vs Scott Steiner. The match was technically a falls count anywhere match, but the two mostly battled in the ring. It was a great bout between the two and one that was a sad reflection on WCW considering they had such great talent and still couldn't appeal to audiences.
The match had interference, which we would come to expect from Steiner and Rick, but DDP still had a chance in this one. Steiner was victorious, but the match was full of mayhem in all the best ways and a great last pay-per-view match for the company.
1 Vs Booker T, WCW World Heavyweight Title / WCW United States Heavyweight Title, Nitro
The last episode of Nitro will always be remembered for the appearance of Vince McMahon and the amazing match between Sting and Flair, but the "winner take all" match between Steiner and Booker T shouldn't be forgotten. The story of the hero triumphing over the villain and Booker riding off into the sunset with two titles is a perfect ending to the classic rivalry between Steiner and Booker that dates back to early WCW.
This fast-paced match opened the last episode of Nitro. If it had lasted more than 15 minutes, it would be an "all-time classic" as the only issue with this bout is how quickly it came to an end. Booker T would win the match and that momentum would carry into WWE where he also became a huge star.
