Following their exit from WWE, Scarlett Bordeaux and Karrion Kross got married in April 2022 and continued performing in the indies. However, Vince McMahon's retirement and Triple H rising in power to become the head of creative in WWE opened the possibilities of them getting a chance to return to the company.

Rumors of them returning to WWE broke out in August 2022, and WWE didn't waste too much time in bringing them in as they made their surprise returns on the August 5, 2022, episode of SmackDown. As Karrion Kross attacked Drew McIntyre, Scarlett Bordeaux set the hourglass on Roman Reigns, signifying that Kross was coming after The Tribal Chief.
