Sasha Banks Has Arrived In Japan Ahead Of A Potential Wrestle Kingdom Appearance
The Sasha Banks saga is one that began in May when she and Naomi walked out of WWE and it still hasn't come to an end. That may well be about to change as rumors continue to swirl suggesting The Boss is about to make her debut for NJPW. Those rumors had a little more credibility added to them this week as it seems Banks has touched down in Japan, two weeks ahead of Wrestle Kingdom 17.
Sasha Banks Is In Japan
That's according to a new report from PWInsider and follows on from a deleted tweet claiming Banks was coming to Japan ahead of time to set up potential sponsorship deals. The tweet came courtesy of a director of an influencer marketing agency (via Bleacher Report). In turn that tweet, and now reports that Banks is already in Japan, came off the back of the belief the former Raw Women's Champion is New Japan-bound.

As for what Banks's role will be in Japan should she show up at Wrestle Kingdom remains unknown. Both Kairi and Banks teased earlier this year that they'd like to compete in a dream match against each other, potentially for the new IWGP Women's Title. Kairi has since become the first holder of that championship and will defend it at Wrestle Kingdom against Tam Nakano.
A Dream Match vs. Kairi
The most likely scenario right now is Kairi wins that match, an extremely likely outcome since it will be her first defense, and Banks appears after the match to challenge the former WWE Superstar. Whether that be at Wrestle Kingdom or on whatever show comes next. Likely the former since Banks already appears to be in Japan and just the rumor that The Boss might be there will have a lot of casual NJPW fans tuning in when they might not be watching otherwise.
Banks's current contract status remains somewhat unknown. While The Boss and WWE apparently agreed her deal would come to an end at some point over the summer, it seems that deal won't officially end until 2022 is over and done with. That seems to be why she hasn't shown up elsewhere since walking out of WWE, and why her potential first appearance since leaving WWE will be very early in 2023.
