Rudy Gobert Blasts Refs After Jazz Lose To Heat

Jazz center Rudy Gobert went on a rant after watching his team fall to the Miami Heat on Sunday night.

The Jazz looked to have things well under control early in the game, opening up an 18-point lead on the Heat's home floor. But Erik Spoelstra's gritty band rallied back to keep things close until the fourth quarter, with Dwyane Wade taking over near the end, hitting two clutch free throws with 3.2 seconds left in the game after drawing a foul on Gobert.

Gobert was particularly upset because Donovan Mitchell had missed a shot on the previous possession and, in his opinion, the Jazz player was pushed harder than Wade was on a challenge.

The center was limited to just 12 points on the night, but he did manage to haul 18 boards. Meanwhile, the loss leaves the Jazz with an 11-13 record for the season, all the more reason for him to feel upset.

“I just want it to be consistent, at one point," he said to reporters after the game, per the Salt Lake Tribune. "Every night is the same s**t. Every night has been the same s**t. If you call something one way, you have to call it the other way. Once they start doing that, I’m going to have a little more respect. I’m just tired of it. Every game is the same.

“They can’t be deciding the issue of a game just like that. If you call a foul on the play on D. Wade, Donovan got pushed harder right before. But he’s not Dwyane Wade, it’s fine."

Mitchell, though, seemed quite fine after the game as he exchanged jerseys with Wade, who has been giving away his shirt after every game so far this season, as part of his farewell tour.

What This Means

Utah has struggled in close games this season, losing all the three matches they've played in which the score was decided by three points or less.

Different officiating would have likely made the difference for the struggling side, but they will have to work on what they can control for the time being.
