Roman Reigns Is One Victory Away From 1,000 Wins In WWE

It's not been made official yet, but it seems incredibly likely the main event of WrestleMania 40 will be Roman Reigns vs. The Rock with the Undisputed Title on the line. Whether you like that plan or not, it's a huge match by anyone's standards. Two generations from the same extensive wrestling family doing battle for a title Reigns has held for more than three and a half years. Not to mention the challenger is one of the most famous men on the planet returning to WWE for his first proper match in over a decade.

One Win Away

As if all of that doesn't already make this one of the biggest WrestleMania matches in recent history, Sportskeeda has noted there's an extra layer of history waiting to be made, but only if Reigns doesn't wrestle again between now and WrestleMania, and only if he beats The Rock. That's because, according to Cagematch, the next time Reigns wins a match will mark his 1000th victory as a WWE Superstar.

The Rock Stealing Cody Rhodes’ Match Against Roman Reigns Shows WWE Hasn’t Changed One Bit
WWE under Endeavor and Triple H has been successful by depending on current stars, but The Rock taking Cody Rhodes' spot is the same old WWE.

According to Cagematch, The Tribal Chief has wrestled 1,366 matches since his debut in 2010, winning 999 of them. That 999th victory was the only match he has wrestled so far this year when he beat three other Superstars in a Fatal 4-Way match for the Undisputed Title at Royal Rumble. Since it doesn't seem likely Reigns will wrestle again between now and WrestleMania - he isn't being advertised for Elimination Chamber - there's a very real chance he will pick up his 1,000th win at WrestleMania 40.

Will Reigns Win?

For that to happen, however, Reigns will need to beat The Rock. Up until two weeks ago, it seemed almost certain that if a Reigns vs. Rock match were to happen, Reigns would be the one having his arm raised come the end of it. That's no longer quite as nailed on, not only because Rock is far more involved in WWE after joining the TKO board, but because rumors surrounding his insertion into the WrestleMania main event have also suggested he has been pushing to win that match.

Even if it doesn't happen at WrestleMania, Reigns will pick up his 1000th win eventually. Perhaps he will get it in a rematch against The Rock should he lose the title at WrestleMania. My guess is Rock vs. Reigns will be a one-time thing and it'll be that stage on which Reigns picks up the 1000th victory of his career. I also think, despite a narrative being spun that there is a grander plan in place, Rhodes will have to wait until SummerSlam for his shot at Reigns.
