Report Notes Expectation Is Bray Wyatt Will Sign Contract With AEW
According to a report, Windham Rotunda, the former Bray Wyatt is expected to join All Elite Wrestling. During the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that while it is not one hundred percent --the deal is not signed because of his non-compete clause --Wyatt is expected to join AEW in the coming weeks.
"It’s most likely happening," Meltzer said. He added, "It’s at the same stage as Aleister Black long before it happened. I don’t think there’s pen to paper or anything like that but the expectation is pretty strong, put it that way."
There's been a ton of speculation that AEW will be Rotunda's next stop. There's even a photo floating around that seems to suggest he was at Rampage sitting in the crowd during CM Punk's debut (not confirmed to actually be the former WWE star).
Wyatt was unexpectedly released from WWE on July 31. There have been a few differing accounts as to what might have led to Wyatt's release, but speculation is that both budget cuts and a counter opinion to that of creative, specifically Vince McMahon, led to his departure.
There was talk he was close to returning and he had been advertised for an upcoming show right around the time of his release. It was also shocking to see him go because his character was among WWE's most popular, with The Fiend selling a ton of merchandise for the company.
He has changed his Twitter profile to Windham and he's been sharing images which might be teases as to what type of character he's going to run with next.
AEW Has All The Momentum
If Rotunda is headed to AEW, it's another major pick up for the company who just landed Punk, is speculated to have signed Daniel Bryan and probably isn't done yet making waves. Wyatt/Rotunda would be a huge get and creatively, he'd have a lot of freedom in AEW.
