Renee Paquette Talks Chances She'll Sign In AEW With Non-Compete Clause Now Lapsed
Since leaving WWE and deciding the company was no longer the right fit for her, there's been a sense among the wrestling community that Renee Paquette would eventually wind up in AEW and alongside her husband Jon Moxley. She finally spoke on those rumors and talked about what she sees as coming up next for herself.
When Paquette left (Renee Young to WWE fans), she didn't feel as though WWE was giving her the right roles based on her skill set. Her husband (Dean Ambrose) had already left for AEW, having hated the process behind the scenes in WWE and most felt Paquette would be welcomed by AEW and eventually join the roster in some capacity.
She spoke with YouTube interviewer Chris van Vliet about whether or not AEW is in her future now that her WWE non-compete clause has lapsed. She didn't rule it out, but she said, "It's certainly not something I'm chasing down."
Paquette has aspirations beyond just being known as the "wrestling girl" and she hinted that she's, in fact, more likely to stay away from the wrestling scene until she tackles a few other projects that will let her spread her wings and dive into other avenues. She didn't rule out AEW if the opportunity was right, but she also didn't want to pigeonhole herself.
She said,
“That’s the thing too, you look at AEW and everything they’re doing is fantastic. I’m not saying that I wouldn’t do something there. I for sure would if the right thing came up, but it’s not the thing that I’m chasing down. I think my time in WWE was so great, and my time in wrestling has been so great, but I don’t want that to be the only thing I do. I don’t want to pigeonholed myself as just being the wrestling girl.”
Paquette said she's glad that she did the wrestling thing and it's right in her wheelhouse now so she can always use it as fallback plan. b"But there are so many other things that I wanna do," she noted. "I think that going right to work for another wrestling company would defeat my purpose of wanting to walk away."
Paquette Is Busy Enough
Technically, she still works for FOX, so there may be projects that pop up there, she's finished and promoting a cookbook and she's hosting a podcast called Oral Sessions. She's not shy of things to do.
She's also currently pregnant with she and Moxley's first child. The timing for her in AEW wouldn't be right anyways. She'd come in, only to have to leave or take time off prior to the baby being born.
