Real Reason Alexa Bliss Will Be Away From WWE For A While

Reports were that Alexa Bliss was going to take some extended time away from WWE and might return with a new gimmick. While the first part appears to be true, the second part of that rumor is certainly up for debate as speculation is that a new character is not the reasoning behind Bliss' departure.

According to PWInsider, the actual reason for Bliss' absence is because she is suffering from a sinus problem and is scheduled to have surgery to solve said issue. They write, "Bliss is set to undergo sinus surgery but were unable to confirm how long Bliss would be sidelined for following the procedure." They add that, as a result, "Alexa Bliss was written off TV as of the Extreme Rules PPV."

Fans who watched Sunday's pay-per-view saw Bliss lose it when Charlotte destroyed Lilly. Bliss showed a range of emotions and left the arena without much direction given as to what might be coming next. It didn't take long for rumors to spread that this was WWE's way of writing her off the show for a while, many people believing that Bliss would be back to her old self when she returned. Charlotte did allude to wanting to wrestle the old Bliss and not the goofy character version of the performer. Others wondered why WWE would change Bliss' gimmick since it's been fairly popular with the fans and her merchandise is a big seller for the company.

What About The WWE Draft?

What happens on Friday or Monday might offer some sort of indication as to how long Bliss might be out. If she's drafted, perhaps she won't be gone as long as some expect. If she goes undrafted, that's a good sign she'll be out of action for some time.

It's certainly possible WWE looks at a few options for Bliss while away. They could stick with this character, go back to what she used to be, or come up with something new since Bliss has proven she can pretty much knock any role out of the park.
