New AEW Television Deal Worth More Than Originally Reported

It was recently reported that AEW was on the verge of signing a big-money deal with Warner Bros. that would see AEW programming sold to the network on a multi-year deal for around $1 billion. According to a recent report, that figure might be short-changing the actual dollar amount.

Rumors had suggested AEW's TV deal will be worth $1 billion but those estimates are apparently on the low side. According to Wade Keller of PWTorch, AEW's new deal with Warner Bros. Discovery is expected to be worth approximately $240 million per year over five years. That would bring the total value of the deal to $1.2 billion, or 20% more than originally reported. Breaking the numbers down on a weekly basis, that's approximately $4.6 million per week that All Elite Wrestling would be making and would really help ensure they are operating in the green as a profitable company.

As part of the programming arrangments, AEW would include Dynamite, their new imminent show Collision, and Keller noted that a Max streaming service will be announced in the near future. Specifically, speculation has suggested that AEW All In could air on Max in the United States to avoid the promotion running two pay-per-views in seven days.

This Is Huge For AEW And WWE

The rights fees circulating have not been officially confirmed and the numbers seem to keep climbing, but if this is the ballpark, this is massive for AEW and WWE. Not only does this deal give AEW financial security, and a bigger budget for talent and production, it means WWE's television rights fees will skyrocket.

Keller points out that there are some areas of concern for AEW with this deal. Talent could be stretched too thin, as could Tony Khan who has to book a lot more creative to cover the increased content. Live event attendance could take a hit and there is a slight concern about talent overexposure.
