Warning! SPOILERS for Young Sheldon season 5 finale.

Missy's (Raegan Revord) story in The Big Bang Theory is now beyond repair after the Young Sheldon season 5 finale. Sheldon's (Iain Armitage) twin has become a fan favorite in the prequel series thanks to her sass and humor. Unfortunately,  Missy's The Big Bang Theory story becomes so much more tragic after one of her best scenes in the Young Sheldon season 5 finale.

It was a difficult year for the Coopers, especially towards the end of Young Sheldon season 5. The revelation that Georgie (Montana Jordan) has accidentally impregnated his girlfriend sent the whole family into a frenzy. It also resulted in several other problems including putting a strain on George (Lance Barber) and Mary's (Zoe Perry) already volatile marriage. After both losing their jobs, the clan is also dealing with financial problems. Sheldon, on the other hand, is having a difficult time focusing on school amidst his home life turmoil. Throughout all this, Missy has displayed immense maturity as she offers genuine support to all of his struggling family members.

In the Young Sheldon season 5 finale, it is Sheldon's turn to seek help from his twin. The socially-inept genius develops a fear of the future after seeing what the adults in the Cooper family have to deal with due to their various problems. Thankfully, Missy comes in to ease his concerns, giving him a new perspective on embracing the idea of growing up. Between this and her attempt to console Mary and Georgie, it's so unfair Missy ends up being the least Cooper sibling. It doesn't help that throughout all this, she never lost hope of a better tomorrow, only for The Big Bang Theory to reveal that she has the least satisfying future out of all three Cooper siblings.

Young Sheldon and Missy Season 5 Finale

What makes this so much worse is that Sheldon essentially got everything he wanted in life. In the rather disappointing Young Sheldon season 5 finale, Missy asks him if there's anything that he plans on doing when he grows up. Sheldon runs down all the things he wishes to accomplish and looking at how his life turned out in The Big Bang Theory, all of them came true. Meanwhile, barely anything from Missy's wish list panned out. If anything, the prequel gave her some shallow and far-fetched dreams which somehow makes it more insulting for the character. It projects that she's superficial even though that isn't exactly the case. Granted that she can be simple-minded at times, it's clear that she's far more mature than her brother and better adjusted than most members of her family.

Unfortunately, things are only going to get worse for Missy in Young Sheldon. Given her close relationship with George, it's safe to say that his impending death will significantly impact her. That may even be the reason why she had her rather lackluster life in The Big Bang Theory.
