Metroid Dread: How to Unlock Morph Ball
Metroid Dread features many abilities players have come to associate with the Metroid series. The Morph Ball ability is unlocked a few hours in.
Metroid Dread features a lot of what the series has become known for, including the Morph Ball upgrade. The Morph Ball is the form Samus takes that enables her to move more quickly, and access areas too cramped for her when standing. This ability is one of the classic abilities from the Metroid series and is essential for success in Metroid Dread.
Players will find a slew of items and upgrades in Metroid Dread that allow them to play more efficiently. Other mainstay abilities from the Metroid series, such as the charge beam, are unlocked earlier on in the game. In comparison, Morph Ball is unlocked later in the game, however, its importance cannot be understated. If players want to access all the locations in Metroid Dread, they need to have the Morph Ball ability.
Players must defeat a specific enemy in the Cataris region to unlock the Morph Ball ability. Before players can do this, they must have found the Wide Beam and defeated the Cataris region’s Central Unit boss fight. The Central Unit is located in the top left corner of Cataris. The fight is straightforward like the other Central Unit boss fights in Metroid Dread. Break the outer metal shell of the unit to reveal the brain underneath. Dodge the unit’s two blasters and red ring attacks while damaging the brain. Missiles and charged attacks are useful for this boss fight. Although the game is considered a horror game, this boss fight isn't too horrific.
Defeating The Green E.M.M.I. To Unlock Morph Ball In Metroid Dread
Once players defeat the Central Unit in Cataris, they will acquire the Omega Blaster. Players must have the Omega Blaster to defeat the green E.M.M.I. who holds the Morph Ball ability. After leaving the boss fight room using the Omega Blaster, players can attack the green E.M.M.I. It’s a good idea to lure the E.M.M.I. to the bottom right corner of the area for a cleaner shot.
The green E.M.M.I. is faster than other E.M.M.I.s so players have to stay extra vigilant during the fight. Players should use the blaster in large bursts to overheat the E.M.M.I.s outer shell. Once the metal shell breaks off, players should charge and fire the Omega Blaster at the exposed E.M.M.I. After players defeat the green E.M.M.I. they will unlock the Morph Ball ability for the rest of the critically acclaimed, highly-reviewed new entry in the Metroid series: Metroid Dread.
