Kazuchika Okada Is Now The Undisputed IWGP Heavyweight Champion
Wrestle Kingdom 16 has been and gone and the issue regarding who is the true IWGP World Heavyweight Champion has finally been settled. Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay clashed in the main event of night two and after months of claiming he was the champion when he really wasn't, the Brit has had any technicality he was still clinging to taken away from him.
Okada Is The One True Champion
As has been the case for a few years, Wrestle Kingdom was once again a two-night affair. In the main event of night one, Okada defeated Shingo Takagi to become the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. Just 24 hours later, Okada went more than half an hour with Ospreay, who only had to wrestle a six-person tag match the night before, and The Rainmaker still managed to win.

Anything involving Okada or Ospreay is always going to be pretty incredible, so a match involving the two of them was never going to disappoint. The match was more than worthy of its spot in the closer for Wrestle Kingdom night two, and also fitting of a match that finally brings the curtain down on New Japan sort of having two World Champions for the past few months.
What's Next For The Rainmaker?
This all started when Ospreay was sidelined with a neck injury shortly after becoming IWGP Champion for the first time in his career. Despite being stripped of the title and a new champion being crowned, Ospreay claimed to still be the promotion's true champion and continued that facade after he had recovered and was able to return to Japan. Meanwhile, the rightful lineage was continued and now sits solely with Okada.
Angles with dueling champions are always fun, but they can't go on forever. Okada's gaze may now fall over AEW. The Rainmaker recently cited his desire to face Bryan Danielson and CM Punk. Punk responded to Okada's want by posting his address online and telling the IWGP Champion to come find him. Suffice to say, if Okada does show up in AEW, it will be a very big deal.
