Jon Moxley's 10 Best AEW Quotes
Jon Moxley has been one of the most important wrestlers in AEW ever since his debut in 2019. As one of only five men to win the AEW World Championship, Moxley has proven himself to be one of the most dominant fighters on the roster.

Moxley has also had his fair share of memorable moments and promos. Whether he’s playing the heel, babyface, or something in between, Moxley draws in the audience like few others can. These quotes are pulled from 10 of Moxley’s AEW promos between his debut at 2019’s Double or Nothing and the present moment.
10 “They Want Unsanctioned? I’m Unsanctionable!”
Moxley’s first rival in AEW was none other than Kenny Omega. In 2019, though, the roles were reversed; Kenny was the babyface, while Moxley was the bloodthirsty heel.

This quote comes from Moxley’s promo following Tony Khan’s announcement that Moxley and Omega’s match at Full Gear would be unsanctioned. Moxley was enraged that he wouldn’t be able to get an official win against Kenny Omega and consequently lashed out.
9 “This Belt Doesn’t Belong To Me. This Belt Belongs To Each & Every One Of You.”
Moxley is equally incredible as a heel and as a babyface. This quote is an example of the latter. It comes from his first promo as AEW World Champion after he defeated the inaugural champion, Chris Jericho. Moxley proclaimed that he would bring prestige and integrity back to the AEW World Title and dedicated his reign to the beautiful sport of professional wrestling.
8 “B*tch AF”
Moxley isn’t known to make a lot of jokes when it’s time to go to work. When he’s with his best friend Eddie Kingston, though, a more lighthearted side of him comes out.
This quote comes from his feud against The Young Bucks, who like to call themselves “Christian AF.” Moxley, fed up with their antics, referred to them as the quote above.
7 “I Don’t Run From Demons, I Just Beat The Sh*t Out Of Them.”
Jon Moxley made the incredibly brave and selfless decision to seek treatment for his issues with alcoholism. The promo he gave to the AEW fan base upon his return is one of the most impactful promos that AEW has ever seen. He spoke openly and vulnerably about his mental health struggles. The conclusion he came to was the line above.
6 “You’re Gonna Have To Unstrap That Belt Off My Dead Body”
Jon Moxley was a fighting champion during his run with the AEW World Championship. Not only did he fight his opponents in the ring, but he fought to keep the spirit of AEW high throughout the tumultuous times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This line comes from his promo against Lance Archer. It illustrates just how much Moxley loved his AEW World Championship, and how much heart he poured into every defense of it.
5 “No I Don’t Think He Was Joking, I Think He Was Really Gonna Try To Blow Me Up.”
The Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega was one of the bloodiest and most brutal matches AEW has ever had. Unfortunately, the only thing most fans remember is the finish. Following the technical malfunction and failed ring explosion, fans were at a loss as to how AEW was going to cover for the mishap. Luckily, Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley came to the rescue.

The two had a very lighthearted promo together that not only established their friendship in AEW, but explained the snafu. Eddie Kingston said that Kenny must think he’s the joker, and Moxley responded, “no, I don’t think he was joking, I think he was really gonna try to blow me up.” It’s an absurd statement that sounded so funny coming from a deadpanned Moxley.
4 “I Have a Zero-Tolerance Policy for Sh*tty People.”
This line comes from Moxley’s first promo after losing the AEW World Championship to Kenny Omega at Winter is Coming. He took a few weeks off to recover at home and came back with a clear mind. The promo as a whole is almost poetic; Moxley comes to terms with the fact that the world doesn’t always treat you fairly, and accepts that while he might get another chance to face Kenny Omega, he’s not the only one who should have that opportunity,
3 “The Bigger The Mountain Is To Climb, The Sweeter It Is At The Top.”
This quote comes from the same promo as the previous quote. It’s another example of Moxley being unexpectedly poetic for a pro wrestler. The mountain here refers to Moxley’s quest to reclaim his AEW World Championship after Kenny Omega cheated to claim it from him.
What’s ironic now is that, while Moxley was unable to exact his revenge on Kenny Omega, he’s now getting another chance at the AEW World Championship.
2 “I Forgot, One Final Thing. I Was Just Kidding.”
During Chris Jericho’s reign as the inaugural AEW World Champion, he invited Moxley to join his heel faction, The Inner Circle. He offered some incentives to bring Moxley over, including a brand new Ford GT. Moxley’s response was ingenious. He played along as though he was going to join so that Jericho gave him the keys to the car, only to turn around and tell Jericho, “I was just joking.” The hustle never ends.
1 “This Is What You Call A Paradigm Shift.”
This is maybe the most iconic line Jon Moxley has ever said in AEW. It might even be the most important line ever spoken in AEW, period. It comes from Moxley’s first-ever AEW promo, right after he debuted at 2019’s Double or Nothing. The words served as the start of not just Moxley’s legendary run in pro wrestling, but AEW’s momentum as a company in a formerly monopolized industry.
