Jinder Mahal Seems To Be Closing In On A Return

Jinder Mahal has been out of action since last June, but he seems as though the former WWE Champion is closing in on his return.

Mahal suffered a patellar tendon rupture that forced him to undergo surgery. His last televised match took place at the June 7 Super ShowDown event, where he competed in the battle royal. Mahal suffered the injury during a live event one week later.

The 33-year-old superstar posted a video of himself training immensely on his Instagram page with a caption that read "Be Back soon." As you can see, Mahal also looks like he's at full strength here.

During the WWE draft three months ago, it was revealed that Mahal was joining the Monday Night Raw roster. It'll be interesting to see what WWE does with Mahal when he returns, but there are plenty of options on the table.

Mahal often feuded with R-Truth for the 24/7 Championship. This included a couple of humorous segments where they fought for the title while R-Truth and Carmella were on a golf course, and even during a flight.

The Raw roster has quite the imbalance, with far too many heels and not enough babyfaces. With strong microphone skills and a humble persona, Mahal might work as a mid-card face.

Mahal was the WWE Champion for 170 days, beginning at Backlash 2017 and lasting until the Nov. 7, 2017 episode of SmackDown Live, when he lost to A.J. Styles. Mahal is also a two-time 24/7 Champion and a former United States Champion.

What Should WWE Do With Mahal When He Returns?

As noted above, WWE could use some more faces on its flagship program. It makes good sense to turn Mahal babyface for once. For all we know, he'll completely flourish in that role. Otherwise, WWE should think about giving him a tag team partner, due to the lack of quality duos in the division.
