High School Musical's Corbin Bleu Returns In HSMTMTS Season 3 Video

A first look at High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3 shows Corbin Bleu playing a meta version of himself in the spinoff series.

HSMTMTS Season 3: Corbin Bleu

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3 brings back the original movie's Corbin Bleu in a first look video for the upcoming season. The High School Musical spinoff series premiered on November 8, 2019, and found a home at Disney+. The series was recently renewed for HSMTMTS season 4 even before the release of season 3, which is set to premiere on July 27.

HSMTMTS takes place in a universe where the High School Musical movie series exists. HSMTMTS seasons 1 and 2 followed the students at East High, the school where High School Musical was filmed, as they staged first High School Musical: The Musical and then Beauty and the BeastHSMTMTS season 3 will step away from East High and instead follow theater students at Camp Shallow Lake for the summer. Season 3 will feature returning faces like Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett as Nini and Ricky alongside several new cast members as regulars. Hannah Montana alum Jason Earles and High School Musical star Corbin Bleu are also joining the cast.

Corbin Bleu will be playing a meta version of himself in the upcoming season and now viewers have a glimpse at his character. Disney+ has released a first look video of HSMTMTS season 3 that shows Bleu's role in the series. In the video, Bleu takes the stage at Camp Shallow Lake as a special surprise for all the campers. In addition to his own appearance at camp, the former High School Musical star announces that Camp Shallow Lake will have the honor of performing Frozen on stage. Check out the video below:

The clip finally gives audiences a hint at Bleu's character in the series. Bleu had teased his role in HSMTMTS season 3, describing himself as a "meaner, jaded version," and this first look follows through. Although the HSMTMTS version of Bleu is all smiles for his audience, he also has the smooth confidence and delivery of a jaded performer. He noticeably doesn't pause when the camp director (Earles) offers his jacket but continues with his presentation for the campers. It's just a short look at Bleu's character, but he's already clearly different from Chad Danforth's friendly personality in the High School Musical series.

Even with this preview's release, there are few plot details about HSMTMTS season 3, and with new series regulars and the move from East High, Bleu's character might be the show's closest remaining tie to the High School Musical series. It remains to be seen how the character and setting changes will be received by the series' fans, but comments under this first look seem mostly excited for the new season. Perhaps, more questions will be answered when a full trailer for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3 is released.
