Heather & Terry Dubrow Reveal What Saved Their Marriage
RHOC's Heather and Terry Dubrow talk about how they saved their marriage after a bad year. They had a 'come-to-Jesus' talk that helped them.
The Real Housewives of Orange County star Heather Dubrow and her husband Terry Dubrow recently shared that during a particularly difficult time, they had a moment that saved their marriage. Heather and Terry have been together for 25 years and married for 23 years. Together, they share twins Max and Nicholas, Kat, and Collette. Max, 18, shared her story on RHOC about coming out as bisexual and the family celebrated the release of her book, I’ll Give It To You Straightish: What Your Teen Wants You to Know. Heather recently shared that her middle daughter Kat, 15, came out to the family as a lesbian and proudly publicly supported both her daughters’ sexuality.
Heather was on RHOC starting from season 7 and left after season 11. Heather announced that her reason for leaving RHOC was to spend more time with her family. However, former RHOC star Kelly Dodd claimed that Heather quit after being demoted to a friend role and that her ego got the best of her. Heather and Kelly had clashed for years on RHOC, but things came to a head when Kelly publicly stated that Heather’s son gave her Covid-19. Kelly claimed the Dubrows sent her a cease-and-desist letter to stop the comments about their son. In a run-in with them at a restaurant, Kelly took a video of her heckling Heather and Terry and posted it on her Instagram stories.
Heather claimed her reason for returning to RHOC was that Kelly was no longer on the show. Fans eagerly awaited her return, hoping to get a glimpse of her “fancypants" lifestyle. In RHOC season 16, Heather showcases her family dynamic and her relationship with Terry which seems stronger than ever. It hasn't always been so rosy, though. In a recent interview with Page Six, Heather and Terry shared how their marriage wasn’t always in a good place. In fact, Heather claimed that there was “one really bad, bad year where the show was affecting [them].” Terry, who co-stars in the hit E! show Botched with Paul Nassif, was having a great season. However, Heather said she was having a particularly bad season on RHOC. Coupled with not seeing each other a lot and not communicating, they were having major issues. They finally had to have a “come-to-Jesus moment” to save their marriage.
The Dubrows are using their knowledge to help couples who are on the brink of divorce in their new reality show 7 Year Stitch. They take couples who have been married for seven years and separate them for seven weeks to go on a journey of self-healing and discovery. After seven weeks, the couples have to decide if they want to stay together or divorce. Heather and Terry’s marriage seem as strong as ever, despite going through some hurdles and if anyone can impart some wisdom to help people, it’s them.
