Going Back To NXT Can Save The Viking Raiders

The Viking Raiders were once seen as one of the most dominant, and exciting tag teams in WWE. Yet their careers are now at a standstill, which is why making the move back to NXT could be exactly what they need.

A Highly Talented Tag Team

The Viking Raiders are a brilliant team, and that much has been clear from the moment they were put together. Whether it was them dominating in Ring Of Honor or the independent scene, to them being signed by WWE. The pair worked perfectly when they debuted in NXT.

Their matches were of the highest quality, and they always managed to entertain the crowd. The Viking gimmick was something different from the rest of the roster, and that remains the case to this day, which is why WWE should be using them more. They bring an obvious hard-hitting style, and that is also something the company is lacking.

But at the same time as being able to showcase their strength, Erik and Ivar are athletically gifted. The two men can do cartwheels and move at a real pace, and the combination of those two styles is something that makes them a joy to watch. The fact that they offer something so unique in comparison to the rest of the roster is their biggest selling point.

Why Their Career Needs Saving

When The Viking Raiders came in they did so to a huge push, holding the NXT Tag Team Championships while being a featured part of the show. They were given a lot of opportunities, and that helped them to thrive within the show, yet things haven't stayed at that level.

Unfortunately, their main roster run has been hit and miss, which has led to them falling down the pecking order in the eyes of management, and the creative team. They have managed to hold championship gold on Raw, and they had a very entertaining feud with The Street Profits as well.

Yet injuries slowed their momentum, and since they returned to the company, WWE hasn't really used them. Their feud with The Usos was a disaster, and at this point, they are used to put over talent, which included them losing a handicap match to Omos. They are no longer relevant and are in a dangerous position on the card.

Can NXT Do The Trick?

While there is no doubt that something had to change with The Viking Raiders in order for them to remain relevant, there is no guarantee NXT is the place to do it. However, on paper, it certainly seems like the perfect idea. It is clear that management on the main roster has no plans for them, and the longer they stay on their current trajectory, the worse it will get.

With wrestlers being released on a regular basis now by the company if talent is not being used they are at risk of being cut. Therefore the fact that they have the chance to be used by being part of the developmental brand is instantly a good thing. That in itself could end up saving their careers with the company.

The two men are far too talented just to sit in catering, and with WWE putting a lot of focus into NXT right now, it is a perfect time for them to join the roster. NXT has a lot of heavy character work at the moment, and there's no doubt that Erik and Ivar fit into that mold ideally.

They should be able to ramp up everything that they do with their gimmicks, and the Viking aspect should fit in better on that show, which is a little more over the top. Plus, with NXT focusing on pushing young talent, adding two wrestlers that can work a high-quality match is a great idea.

WWE has been sending several main roster stars to the show lately, from AJ Styles and Dolph Ziggler to Natalya and the Mysterios. The Viking Raiders are simply the latest example, and if the others are any indication, they will thrive. But their stay shouldn't be a short one, making it a full-time run would be the right call.

They have the experience to help train up-and-coming wrestlers, which is what they need in order to improve. Meanwhile, the tag team division is actually strong on the show, meaning they will be able to remind everyone just how talented they are inside the ring.
