As we previously reported, Scotty (real name Scott Garland) recently parted ways with WWE after requesting his release. No specific reason was provided for why Scotty decided to bring his WWE tenure to an end, but his subsequent statement implied that he had become disillusioned in his role following the recent NXT revamp.

"Today I have asked for my release from World Wrestling Entertainment," Scotty said in a statement on social media on November 23. "30 years ago I stepped into a WWE ring for the very first time. I have lived my dream 100 times over. Some of my most special memories will be from the last five years working with NXT," he continued. "The black and gold brand was something special and I am proud to have been a small part of that. I always promised myself that I would never be part of something solely for the paycheck and that was where I was at. I told myself that I would walk away if I ever got to that point, so that is what I have chosen to do."

Scotty last worked a match in 2016 when he teamed with his Too Cool tag team partner, the late Brian Christopher (Grand Master Sexay) to take on Tom Van Zant & Troy Van Zant in a losing effort at the HPW 18 Years Anniversary Show in Colombus, Indiana. Scotty began working as a coach at WWE's Performance Center later that year.

Under the name Scott Taylor, Scotty 2 Hotty started working for WWE as an enhancement talent in 1991.
