A main event star since the 80s, Sting competed in tons of WCW pay-per-view main events. He was unafraid to put other stars over and lost over twenty pay-per-view matches at the company. This list will examine every singles loss Sting suffered at WCW pay-per-view.
14 VS Nikita Koloff - The Great American Bash 1991
Although Sting did lose to Lex Luger at Starrcade 1989, his first loss at a pay-per-view in WCW occurred after WCW began branding their own pay-per-views at "WCW" instead of "NWA." In a heated feud with Nikita Koloff, Sting suffered a loss in one of the most unentertaining matches of the night.
The Russian Chain Match stipulation was supposed to add suspense, but it ended up grounding both stars far too much. Sting tried to hop over Koloff to touch the last turnbuckle but knocks Koloff into the buckle earning Sting an inadvertent loss.
13 Vs Big Van Vader - The Great American Bash 1992
In 1992, Sting and Vader entered into a feud that helped both stars become top names at WCW. The two battled with everything they had competing for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.
The match went back and forth until Sting overshot a Stinger Splash that caused him to knock his head on the ring post. Vader hit a powerbomb and won the WCW title from "The Icon." Sting underestimated Vader the whole match and paid for it in the end.
12 Vs Big Van Vader - SuperBrawl III
Vader picked the stipulations of the strap match between Sting at SuperBrawl III. Vader weighed 200 pounds more than Sting entering this match and chose a White Castle of Fear Strap Match.
Vader was able to yank Sting wherever he wanted with the strap. Sting held his own and bust Vader open, but Vader ended up just dragging Sting to all four corners in one of the best Strap Matches ever. Sting would finally avenge his losses to Vader at Starrcade 1992.
11 Vs Big Bubba Rogers - Uncensored 1995
This match was one of the most shocking losses of Sting's early career. Bubba Rogers (aka Big Boss Man in the WWE) was looking for a new spark to his career in WCW. He entered into a feud with Sting that lead to an Anything Goes Match at Uncensored 1995.
Although Sting dominated a large part of this match, Schiavone brought up a knee injury Sting suffered years ago in a match with Luger and Rogers started working the knee. In the end, Sting tried to bodyslam Rodger, but his knee gave out causing Rogers to fall on him earning a clean pinfall victory.
10 Vs The Giant - Slamboree 1996
The Giant received a massive push upon arrival to WCW in 1995. Sting and The Giant had crossed paths a few times before Slamboree 1996, but this was by far their biggest match since they competed for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.
Sting had begun to grow out his hair and tried fearlessly to choke out The Giant. The match only lasted for ten minutes, but Sting gave it everything he had. Lex Luger tried to aid Sting but ended up "accidentally" hitting him with Jimmy Hart's megaphone. It led to a chokeslam victory from The Giant.
9 Vs Randy Savage - Spring Stampede 1998
Randy Savage and Sting were two of the biggest stars at WCW in the early 90s. The pair crossed paths many times, but by 1998 WCW was a top-tier wrestling program. Somehow, Spring Stampede 1998 was the first singles pay-per-view match featuring Savage Vs Sting.

Sting had this WCW World Heavyweight Championship match pretty much won before Kevin Nash interfered. Hogan tried to stop Savage, but in the end Nash Powerbombed Sting and pulled Savage on top of him.
8 Vs Bret Hart - Halloween Havoc 1998
Bret Hart and Sting should have had some of the best feuds of either star's career at WCW. Instead, they kept getting aimlessly thrown into matches against each other and never built a memorable rivalry. Halloween Havoc 1998 is often best remembered for featuring an awful Hogan vs Warrior match and the DDP vs Goldberg match that was cut off before the pay-per-view ended.
Hart Vs Sting ended up being an afterthought and the match itself was nothing too special. The pair competed for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship. Hart used Sting's bat to knock him out and score a pinfall victory.
7 Vs Rick Steiner - The Great American Bash 1999
By 1999, the quality of matches and storylines at WCW had greatly begun to deteriorate. This Falls Count Anywhere Match had the potential to be great but ended up being a fiasco. The pair battled all over the place.
Tank Abbot attacked Sting and Scott Steiner released the dogs on him, literally. The dogs attacked Sting as the show cuts away and the Steiner Brothers returned with the ref confirming Rick pinned Sting backstage to earn the victory.
6 Vs Sid Vicious - Road Wild 1999
This loss was one of the few clean losses of Sting's WCW career. This match only lasted ten minutes and was mostly back and forth. In the end, Sting hit Sid with two Stinger splashes, but when he went for a third, Sid caught him and hit him with a simple chokeslam to earn the victory at Road Wild 1999.
5 Vs Goldberg - Halloween Havoc 1999
Halloween Havoc 1999 featured Goldberg answering "heel Sting's" open call challenge. The match was announced as a non-title match even though Goldberg ended up holding up the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at the end.

The purpose of this match is to provide a huge shock factor for viewers by having Goldberg take down Sting. The match itself was completely forgettable. They went back and forth for less than five minutes until Goldberg hit the Jackhammer and scored a clean pinfall win over Sting.
4 Vs Bret Hart - Mayhem 1999
The WCW World Heavyweight Championship was a mess by WCW Mayhem 1999. The pay-per-view featured the finals of a tournament that was set to crown a new champion after Sting was stripped of the title for attacking a ref.
Bret Hart and Sting competed in the semi-finals. The first four minutes of this bout were pretty entertaining. Lex Luger interfered with the match in favor of Hart and the ref ended the match as a DQ. Hart forced him to restart and he quickly defeated Sting after forcing him to tap out. Hart ended up winning the tournament at the end of the show.
3 Vs Scott Steiner - Spring Stampede 2000
Scott Steiner and Sting competed for the WCW United States Championship in a match that was a huge letdown. It had a ton of potential to reignite some of the magic from the early days of WCW but ended up being a dud.
Sting had the match won until Vampiro appeared through the ring and pulled Sting under. Vampiro brought Sting up with blood in his mouth and passed out. Steiner applied the Steiner Recliner and earned the victory.
2 Vs Vampiro - The Great American Bash 2000
The fallout between Vampiro and Sting at Spring Stampede 2000 led to a Human Torch Match between Sting and Vampiro. To win the match, one wrestler had to set the other one on fire.
The two competed on the Tron where the torch was. Sting was replaced by a stuntman after the lights went down. He looked nothing like him. Vampiro ended up turning Sting (actually a stuntman) on fire and he fell from the titantron.
1 Vs Jeff Jarrett - Halloween Havoc 2000
The last pay-per-view loss of Sting's career happened at Halloween Havoc 2000. Although the match was supposed to be Jarrett vs Sting, it ended up being Sting versus six fake Stings. Jarrett ends up hitting Sting with a guitar in the middle of the "battle of the Stings," which lead to a victory for Jarrett. It was one of the strangest matches of Sting's career.
