Eden Hazard Rumored To Stay With Chelsea If N’Golo Kante Re-Signs
Chelsea is upping its game when it comes to keeping Eden Hazard and hopes that N'Golo Kante's contract extension will be just the trick.
Transfer deadline day is growing ever closer and Chelsea is still more concerned with keeping its players at Stamford Bridge than bringing new ones in. Thibaut Courtois, Willian, and Eden Hazard are all rumored to be leaving the club before the new season begins. Maurizio Sarri is likely doing his level best as we speak to ensure that all three of those men are Chelsea players heading into the 2018/19 season.
Another man that has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge is World Cup-winning midfielder, NGolo Kante. However, the Frenchman has been very vocal about his desire to remain at Chelsea for the foreseeable future. He put his money where his mouth is, or Chelsea did, this week when the club offered him a new five-year deal that will see his weekly wage increase to $380,000 a week. If he signs, which he is expected to, he will become the highest paid player in Chelsea history.

Evening Standard has reported that Chelsea is hoping Kante re-signing with the club will spur Hazard on to do the same. Prior to Kante's new contract, the Belgian midfielder was the highest paid player at the club, earning $260,000 a week. However, the new contract that will tie Hazard to Stamford Bridge is rumored to be worth around $390,000 per week, so more than Kante will be earning.
Hazard's new offer coupled with the $260 million price tag they have slapped on him may be enough to fend off a move to Real Madrid. In other good news for Chelsea fans, Willian has also stated that he wants to stay at the club despite interest from a number of different suitors. At this stage of the transfer window, it seems as if Courtois is now the only one of the trio who Chelsea is still at risk of losing.
If Chelsea can indeed keep hold of all the players mentioned above then it's possible that a good season could be lying in wait. The Blues finished fifth last season, outside of the much-coveted Champions League spots, hence the change in manager and the transitional summer. They have the players and the firepower to be a force in the Premier League though, it's just a case of keeping hold of them.
