Dark Side of the Ring returns to our screens next week and its creators have revealed which episode will be kicking off season five. Announcing the full list of episodes coming this season last month, the first of those topics that will be covered when Dark Side of the Ring is back on March 5 will be Earthquake, better known to those close to him as John Tenta.

Earthquake's Episode

Jumping between WWE, WCW, and Japan from the late 1980s, through the '90s, and into the early 2000s prior to his passing, the trailer for Earthquake's episode confirms his time as a part of the Natural Disasters, juggling gimmicks, and hiding the illness that would eventually kill him from his family. Returning to Dark Side of the Ring for the episode, and likely for other topics in season five, is Jake Roberts, and Tenta's son is also shown speaking.

How To Watch Vice TV's 'Dark Side Of The Ring'
'Dark Side of the Ring' premiered on Vice TV in 2019. Four seasons later, it's a must-see show for wrestling fans. Here's where you can find it.

The episode has been named The Ballad Of 'Earthquake' John Tenta, a reveal made alongside photos of the late WWE Superstar with his family. Clearly, the Dark Side episode will aim to show fans that despite the intimidating character he portrayed on-screen, Tenta was a family man and the complete opposite of Earthquake when the cameras were off.

Tenta's Wrestling Journey

Tenta battled cancer for two years, succumbing to the illness in 2006 at the age of just 42. Many fans assume Tenta was far older than he was at the height of his fame in WWE, his hairline giving off the impression he was a lot older than he looks. Tenta was actually just 25 when he made his debut in WWE, a sumo career and a run in All Japan Pro Wrestling already under his belt by that point. He's probably best known for teaming with Typhoon in WWE, the two of them winning the Tag Team Titles together.

Dark Side of the Ring's fifth season will be ten episodes long, hopefully without the break halfway through this time, although that's yet to be confirmed one way or the other. Other topics that will be explored via their own episodes in the upcoming season include Harley Race, Brutus Beefcake, and Black Saturday. For fans unfamiliar with Black Saturday, it's the phrase used to describe Vince McMahon's purchase of Georgia Championship Wrestling so he could get his hands on its Saturday night timeslot on TBS.
