Christopher Daniels Reportedly Informed Marko Stunt His AEW Contract Would Not Be Extended
Marko Stunt's AEW tenure is almost an end. The 25-year-old's AEW contract is due to expire and will reportedly not be renewed.
According to a recent Fightful Select report, Stunt was informed of his impending departure by veteran professional wrestler Christopher Daniels, who serves as AEW's Head of Talent Relations. Per Fightful, Stunt was a victim of budget cuts and was considered surplus to requirements as the company's roster continued to expand.
Marko Stunt signed with AEW in 2019 and spent the majority of his time with the company as a member of Jurassic Express alongside Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus. Stunt primarily served as the group's hype man, but he also participated in 50 matches over the course of his All Elite career. His most recent match in an AEW ring went down in September when he teamed with Fuego Del Sol to take on Shawn Spears and Wardlow in a losing effort on an episode of AEW Dark: Elevation.

Last October, Stunt took time off to recover from a concussion and wasn't utilized again, even after recovering. Reportedly, Stunt reached out to AEW and requested some ring time in an effort to get back on track, but his plea was ignored. However, Stunt's AEW separation has been described as amicable.
“They’ve been doing this to people,” Stunt's friend Joey Janela said of AEW’s approach to the talent they aren’t keen on re-signing. “They’ve been radio silent on the people that they are letting the contracts expire. That’s why you have talent relations to talk to your talent and tell them what the situation is," he added. Janela is also set to part ways with AEW when his contract expires on May 1.
“When we started a lot of people had contracts that were a couple of years long and a lot of them are coming up. I have really tried hard to be very considerate of the people on the roster, especially going through the pandemic," Tony Khan said of the impending wave of AEW departures during a recent chat with Scott Fishman of TVInsider.
