Celebs Who Have Tested Positive For Coronavirus

On Friday, March, 29, 2020, '90s country icon Joe Diffie became the first country artist to go public about his COVID-19 diagnosis. "I am under the care of medical professionals and currently receiving treatment," he said in a statement, as reported by Variety. He also asked for fans to respect his and his family's privacy, and he implored people to be careful during the pandemic.

Sadly, Diffie was not able to pull through, even though he was only 61 years old. "Grammy-winning country music legend Joe Diffie passed away today, Sunday, March 29, from complications of coronavirus (COVID-19)," a statement from his family read.

Diffie was a staple at the Grand Ole Opry for 25 years, as noted by Variety, and he helped to usher in a neotraditionalist era in country music. He had over 20 songs reach the top ten in country music, and had two platinum albums.
