Throughout the history of SmackDown, there has been no shortage of incredible moments. Since 1999 fans have tuned into Smackdown to experience the best that the blue brand has to offer from wicked storylines to gifted performers. It’s likely that there are a few major moments that spring to fans’ minds when they think Smackdown. Moments like Angle and Lesnar’s iron-man match, the debut of Rey Mysterio, and Eddie Guerrero’s historic WWE Championship win.

With countless incredible moments, there also must come a few bizarre and disturbing moments as well. It’s the most shocking moments that fans try to push to the backs of their minds in hopes that their opinion of their favorite wrestlers hasn’t been tainted. With over two decades worth of episodes, there was no chance Smackdown wouldn’t have its fair share of moments that fans might be better off for having forgotten.

10 Kurt Angle Stalks Sharmell

It’s possible that fans of Kurt Angle’s WWE run think that the man can do no wrong, but even Angle has had a rather disturbing section of his historic career. People likely still view Angle as an Olympic hero, but at one point on Smackdown, he was a bit of a pervert.

The disturbing angle had Kurt obsessing over Sharmell in the midst of his feud with Booker T. That may not sound horrific at first, but things like overly sexually pinning Sharmell, and just bizarre promos made pretty much everyone involved, even the fans at home, uncomfortable.

9 CM Punk Serenades The Mysterios

The feud between CM Punk and Rey Mysterio was excellent, which makes it so surprising that fans have seemingly forgotten about it completely. During their intense feud, there came a rather creepy and disturbing moment courtesy of CM Punk.

Rey Mysterio brought his family out to the ring to celebrate his daughter’s 9th birthday in hopes that the audience would sing for the young girl. A heel CM Punk stormed the ring with his crew and delivered a creepy rendition of the birthday song to the poor young girl. Strange and disturbing, but a great heel move.

8 Backstage With Heidenreich & Michael Cole

There has been more than one storyline featured on WWE television that the company would likely prefer for fans to forget. Unfortunately for Heidenreich, it’s likely that WWE would like fans to forget a majority of his career with the company.

To say that the angle between Michael Cole and Heidenreich was in bad taste would be an understatement. Through an uncomfortable segment, it is implied that Heidenreich abuses Cole. Without going into too much detail, the whole situation is likely something fans actively try to forget.

7 Boogeyman Eats A Growth

Just about anything the Boogeyman does could be considered disturbing thanks to his gimmick, but he’s had his fair share of moments that some fans think went too far. While the Boogeyman is known for eating some disgusting things, one of the most disgusting things he’s eaten was from the face of Jillian Hall.

WWE decided that Hall needed some kind of mole or growth, and then they decided that the Boogeyman should eat it live on television. Fans couldn’t have been blamed for shutting off the TV to avoid the disturbing sight, but in reality, that was just another average night of WWE TV for the Boogeyman.

6 Brock Lesnar Destroys Zach Gowen

As far as disturbing moments go, Brock Lesnar’s brutal assault on Zach Gowen both in and out of the ring dove headfirst into the realm of the deeply uncomfortable. It’s already hard enough to watch any wrestler brutalize another, but there was something different about Lesnar’s angle with Gowen.

The two faced off on an episode of Smackdown in which Gowen’s mother happened to be in attendance. The brutal assault mixed with Gowen’s selling made the entire segment incredibly hard to watch. For those who may not know, Gowen is a rather small wrestler with only one leg.

5 Al Snow Eats His Dog

Al Snow has become a cult-classic favorite wrestler of many fans around the world. His iconic character work and underrated matches likely have a lot to do with that fact, but his bizarre character led to even more bizarre moments.

Big Boss Man terrorized the unhinged Al Snow in their feud, and things got strange when the two had dinner in a hotel room. After some coaxing, Al begins to eat the food, which is then revealed to be his dog, Pepper. It’s safe to say modern WWE will never go near a storyline like that again.

4 Profiting From Eddie Guerreros Death

Angles that deal with death, even when it’s a work, can be really poorly executed. Angles that deal with the actual death of a high-profile and beloved wrestler are bound to be uncomfortable for everyone involved.

In the lead-up to WrestleMania, Randy Orton cut a promo that shocked the world. After the death of Eddie Guerrero, Orton scolded Mysterio and stated that Eddie was in Hell. The uncomfortable promo has been talked about by everyone involved, with Orton being particularly vocal about how uncomfortable he was at the time.

3 That Funeral

While both Big Show and Big Boss Man had their share of incredible moments on WWE television, the duo had a heated rivalry with some shocking moments. The most disturbing part of the feud is that it featured an angle that dealt with the death of a loved one.

In the storyline, Big Show’s father had passed away and he was attending his funeral. Big Boss Man suddenly arrived, hooked up Big Show’s father’s casket to his car, and drove off with it. The whole event was shocking to watch, and many fans likely try to forget it every time it pops up in their mind.

2 Edge Tortures Paul Bearer

Paul Bearer has been a part of some of the most iconic and shocking moments in WWE thanks to his close ties to The Undertaker and Kane. Unfortunately, when Edge set his sights on Paul Bearer he was a part of a rather disturbing smackdown moment.

Few wrestlers worked an unhinged character quite as well as Edge, and that was on display in that segment. Abusing Bearer both verbally and physically, it was almost too hard for many fans to watch someone like Edge terrorizing the helpless Paul Bearer.

1 The Fiend Writes His Name In Blood

While the modern era of WWE tends to shy away from angles that may be seen as too controversial, they managed to shock viewers every week with a character like The Fiend. The Fiend character was so good and so hot with fans that many wrestling fans were shocked to hear he had been released.

During his feud with Daniel Bryan, the two were set to sign their contracts for the match. When The Fiend eventually showed up, he brutalized Bryan before jamming a pen into his hand to sign the contract with blood.
