Brock's Mother - how are 4Kids going to handle this?
Nice going, 4Kids...
As we know, 4Kids took it upon themselves to kill off Brock's mother all the way back in episode 5, when they had Flint spew the above dialogue about her dying soon after he abandoned his family. Anyone savvy with the original Japanese version, however, knows that this wasn't the case there - Takeshi's mother was no different to Muno and had also walked out on her offspring. For some reason 4Kids found a dead mother to be more palatable than a deadbeat one, so they altered the backstory accordingly. A minor detail, right?
Unfortunately for 4Kids, Brock's mother (her name is Mizuho) recently featured prominently in a Weekly Pokémon Broadcasting Station "side stories" episode, where Brock comes home to find that his mother has returned to the family, and pussy-whipped Flint into allowing her to flood the Pewter Gym for the benefit of her Water type pokemon.
We don't know for sure whether 4Kids actually intends to dub the side stories episodes, but assuming they do...how the hell are they going to brush over this rather glaring plot-hole they've thrust upon themselves?
Personally, I expect them to either insert some dialogue about Mizuho having been alive all along (she faked her own death or something) OR dub her as Flint's new wife/girlfriend, rather than Brock's biological mother...eh, lucky for them Mizuho looks nothing like any of her children.
(There is a third option, of course, where they could just act like nothing was said on the matter, and hope that we'll just go along with it...I would hope that they have more respect for our intelligence than that, however. 
)
