Bianca Belair Vs. Becky Lynch At WrestleMania 38 Makes A Ton Of Sense
WWE is well and truly on the road to WrestleMania. After a stuttered start at the Rumble, we fans can start to piece together what matches we might witness, and fantasy booking those we’d love to see. One match that encapsulates both sides of that coin is Bianca Belair vs Becky Lynch. Since Lynch returned and squashed the then women’s champ at SummerSlam most of us have been wondering when we will get a payoff to this decision. When will Bianca avenge her loss? Will the two women face off again? Or have WWE simply dropped the ball with another main event star. However, with Ronda Rousey taking the SmackDown route at Mania it looks like we will finally see the Est vs The Man on the grandest stage.
Every time these two have faced off, the buzz was there but the fans and performers are left feeling short-changed by shoddy booking decisions. This time we think we’re all hoping for something a lot more competitive. With Becky as champ and Bianca currently not in a major feud on Raw, it makes a ton of sense that these two can finally settle the score, and when better than April of 2022 at the AT&T Stadium? Becky Lynch Vs. Bianca Belair Has Been 6 Months In The Making
The Man, Big Time Becks, Raw Women's champion. Whatever you want to call Becky Lynch she’s a star. When she returned at SummerSlam the pop was comparable to that of Brock Lesnar’s, and she became one of the main talking points in wrestling once again. She was back, and back at the top. But at what cost? Bianca Belair’s prolonged main event push was the cost. Wrestling fans around the world were left scratching their heads when Becky returned to challenge the then champ and subsequently squash her in less than a minute. The life was sucked out of the arena with those in attendance giving more of a shocked gasp than a cheer of adulation. Since then, Becky has coasted through feuds, stealing the show at Survivor Series with another technically proficient match with Charlotte Flair.
Even having mini feuds with the likes of Liv Morgan on Raw and Lita at this year's Elimination Chamber. While they served a purpose, nobody really gained anything from Becky’s star power. Liv Morgan has slid back down the card and Raw’s women division looks more dormant than Shinsuke Nakamura’s IC title run. If Becky is running through all her challengers using her newly adopted heel persona, then why not make a new star, or rather cement one?

Bianca Belair main evented night one of last year's WrestleMania against Sasha Banks, giving what many saw as a star-making performance. After Mania weekend had finished one of the highlights that were being talked about was the women closing the show on night one and nearly stealing the weekend. Bianca marching up the steel steps while carrying Sasha in a military press position will go down as a WrestleMania moment remembered for years to come. Rightfully so, when Belair held the belt above her head, tears in her eyes with the fans cheering her on, Vince and co should have seen dollar signs. No doubt they did. But as with many recent championship wins they focussed solely on the climb to the top of the mountain, with no real long-term booking planned.

Now Is The Time To Remake The Star Of Bianca Belair
With Becky now at the top of the mountain it's time for these two to square off once again. This time with a fully-fledged feud behind them and an obvious story to tell. Bianca hasn’t reached the heights she once prospered at and Becky is trying to duck challengers while gaining fluke victories over credible opponents. The story told could have shades of the Rock vs John Cena from Mania 29. Cena spent the whole year after losing to the Rock with the loss playing on his mind, never fully recovering only to finally slay the beast that haunted him a year later. Bianca and Becky can tell an organic and realistic story that fans have been clambering to see since the summer. Now is the time to fully pull the trigger on Bianca and go all out in making a new women's star instead of relying so heavily on the patriarchy of a division that desperately needs a shake-up.
This year's WrestleMania can be the launching point for a new era in WWE’s women’s division. With the return of Ronda Rousey and mainstream eyes on the company now is the time to turn the tide on the current product. With Bianca and Becky being a marquee match we can finally see a real payoff to a flimsy summertime return while making Bianca a real star. These two women have the ability to steal any show they are on, they’ve both proven it in the past on the biggest of stages. Now please WWE, cement a legacy for both women and take what started as a throwaway angle full circle, into a WrestleMania feud not to be forgotten.
