Backstage Details On Major Plans WWE Had For Shayna Baszler Following WrestleMania
Following the Royal Rumble, WWE began to seriously push Shayna Baszler, who entered a feud with Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch.
WWE spent several weeks building up Baszler as a dominant and nearly unbeatable heel. The widespread belief was that the Queen of Spades would defeat Lynch at WrestleMania 36 to become the new Raw Women's Champion, but the latter wound up retaining her title after scoring the pinfall victory.
After WrestleMania, WWE stopped pushing Baszler, and she hasn't wrestled a match since the May 11 edition of Monday Night Raw. As it turns out, WWE initially had major plans for the former NXT Women's Champion following WrestleMania.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Shiven Sachdeva of Sportskeeda) WWE rejected an idea from Lynch to drop the title to Baszler (Lynch has also explained this) at WrestleMania.
The initial plan was for Baszler to "eventually" win the title in a rematch, per Meltzer. WWE's plan was for Baszler win the women's Money in the Bank ladder match, but Vince McMahon scrapped that idea and chose Asuka instead.

After Money in the Bank, Lynch appeared on Raw and announced her pregnancy. Before going on hiatus, Lynch relinquished the Raw Women's Championship and awarded to Asuka.
Baszler is reportedly off of television right now because WWE creative doesn't have anything for her. It has also been suggested that Vince gave up on pushing Baszler, who was often regarded as one of Paul Heyman's projects. Heyman was removed from his role as the Raw Executive Director last month, which has seemingly affected WWE's plans with Baszler.
Baszler Will Get Another Chance, Eventually
Eventually, Asuka is going to need a new opponent, and Baszler has proven to be a top-tier heel. The latter can't be kept off of television much longer, and Baszler has established herself as a worthy main eventer. WWE cannot keep her in the mid-card division, so at some point, expect Baszler to get another big push. She has unfinished business following that loss to Lynch at WrestleMania.
