AEW's Jon Moxley Explains Why He Hates WWE Promos

Jon Moxley hasn't been shy in voicing frustrations from his tenure in WWE, where he competed as "Dean Ambrose."

Moxley opted to leave the company following the expiration of his contract in April 2019. One month later, he debuted for AEW at its first event, Double or Nothing. It was later revealed that he had signed a multi-year deal with the company. Moxley has called out his former employer several times since joining AEW. After Double or Nothing 2019, he said WWE's "creative process sucks", referring to it as "absolutely terrible."

Moxley continued to criticize WWE's promos during an appearance on the Oral Sessions podcast (h/t Inside The Ropes), hosted by his wife, Renée Paquette.

"As far as what to put in and what not, it’s kinda like a wrestling match or like a promo. That’s why WWE promos (expletive) suck because they jam 5,000 (expletive) words in there that aren’t necessary. Say what you want to say, mean what you want to say, get your point across...And sometimes in a match, it’s like okay, we planned out all these (expletive) spots but really, what is the story? What are we trying to get (across)? You’re the good guy, I’m the bad guy...Why do we have all (this)?"RELATED: 5 Wrestlers Who Regret Leaving WWE (& 5 Who Are Happy That They Left

Moxley isn't the only AEW wrestler who has been vocal about the frustration in WWE. Soon after signing with AEW, Matt Hardy stated that WWE sucks "the fun out of things." Inaugural AEW World Champion Chris Jericho has opened up on the factors that made him want to leave WWE.

In WWE, Ambrose was one of the company's top main event stars, working alongside Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns in "The Shield." Aside from headlining several major events, he is a WWE Grand Slam Champion who won the 2016 Money in the Bank ladder match.

Jon Moxley Is Better Off In AEW

It's quite evident that Moxley is a lot happier in AEW, where the wrestlers get more say as far as character development is concerned. Despite his status as a main eventer in WWE, the company missed out on several opportunities with him. His heel turn in 2018 certainly didn't go as planned, and his lone WWE Championship reign wasn't exactly booked in enticing fashion. Moxley has flourished as a top main event performer in AEW, and it looks like he's there to stay for the long run. He pieced together a special career in WWE, but he's even better in AEW right now.
