5 Wrestlers AEW Can Realistically Push For A World Title Shot (& 5 That Need Time)
The All Elite Wrestling World Title picture has been an exclusive group since the company's formation in 2019. Only 13 combined men and women have held World championship honors in AEW. The original men's champion was Chris Jericho, while the current champion is MJF. Between Jericho and MJF, Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, Adam Page and CM Punk have been World Champion. While on the women's side the first champion was Riho and the current champion is Toni Storm. The other Women's World Champions include Nyla Rose, Hikaru Shida, Dr. Britt Baker, Thunder Rosa and Jamie Hayter.

As AEW continues to develop talent to elevate to the world title picture, many weekly AEW stars just aren't to that level yet. The next wave of champions will help lead AEW to an even higher level of success. AEW must choose the right talent to carry their World Titles.
10 Can Push: Jade Cargill
Jade Cargill had an historic, albeit boring reign as the original TBS Women's Champion. Cargill has an incredible look and out of this world charisma that automatically move her to the top of any division she competes in. Cargill would defend her TBS title in back to back matches at Double Or Nothing 2023, first defeating Taya Valkyrie but then losing to the returning Kris Statlander. Cargill could return to AEW as a face and challenge current heel Women's Champion Toni Storm.
9 Needs Time: Jungle Boy Jack Perry
Jack Perry turned heel on Hook at Forbidden Door 2023. The heel turn should lead Perry into a popular midcard feud. Yet, at Double or Nothing 2023, Perry was in the World Title match. As a member of the four pillars, AEW looks at Perry as one of the foundations of their promotion.

Yet, Perry has lacked the promo skills to truly get over on top of the card. He has a strong connection to the fans, and possibly this heel turn will elevate Jungle Boy, but he is currently not ready for the World Title.
8 Can Push: Wardlow
At Double or Nothing 2022, Wardlow would defeat MJF and look like one of the hottest stars in pro wrestling. Since that victory, the careers of Wardlow and MJF have went in drastically different directions. Despite the loss, MJF is the current AEW World Heavyweight Champion, and even though Wardlow got the win, he did not get elevated to main event status. Yet, Wardlow has the look, athleticism and storyline to challenge MJF for the World Championship. That feud would pop the AEW fans.
7 Needs Time: Skye Blue
Skye Blue is currently competing in the AEW Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Blue has become a bit of an internet darling. She has a strong connection with the fans and is hugely over in Chicago. Yet, the 23 year old isn't yet ready for prime time. There is little doubt that Skye Blue will reach World Championship level, but not yet. She is still developing her character and in ring work. Yet, her obvious connection to the fans is undeniable and possibly an Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Championship could elevate her even higher on the AEW card.
6 Can Push: Darby Allin
Like Jungle Boy, Darby Allin is referred to as one of AEW's 4 pillars, yet Allin is ready for the World Title picture. Allin has been near the top of the card since the beginning of AEW. He burst onto the scene with an incredible match with Cody Rhodes and has only grown his AEW legacy since. Allin's character work is some of the best in all of professional wrestling and his devil may care ring approach excites fans. Allin may need to distance himself from Sting, but he is still ready for a World Title push.
5 Needs Time: Konosuke Takeshita
While Konosuke Takeshita's recent heel turn has sped up the time needed for him to reach World Title status, he still isn't there just yet. The 6'2, 28 year old Japanese star has the potential to be a true World Champion in AEW. Yet, he still has to develop his character and improve his win-loss record. Takeshita aligning himself with Don Callis should also elevate him in AEW. Still, as a babyface, Takeshita gained exposure by losing matches that were competitive on AEW television. He is a dominate winning streak away from being a true World Title contender.
4 Can Push: Saraya
Saraya is never going to be the in-ring competitor that she was during her initial run in WWE. Yet, her in-ring timing and performance has improved since her AEW debut. Saraya is still one of the most recognizable faces in all of female wrestling.

It is surprising that AEW hasn't pushed her to the World Title yet, but their patience can pay off tremendously. Saraya being in the World Title picture heading into their Wembley Stadium show in her home country makes a lot of sense.
3 Needs Time: Jay White
Jay White was a huge free agent acquisition for All Elite Wrestling. Switchblade has compiled a 5-1 record since his AEW signing. White is clearly one of the best wrestlers in the world, yet he needs time to get over with the casual AEW fan. White's Bullet Club Gold pairing with Juice Robinson hasn't elevated him up the card like many fans had predicted. White needs to win some quality AEW feuds before moving up to the World Title picture. There is little doubt that White won't rise to the top of AEW, he just needs more time.
2 Can Push: Malakai Black
Malakai Black hasn't wrestled a singles match in 2023. Yet, the head of the House of Black could immediately step in as a World Championship contender. Black's character work and in-ring ability has made him one of the most marketable and popular athletes on the AEW roster. With the backing of his faction, Black could be in the World Title picture against any of the former champions in AEW, and would even be favored in a feud with MJF. Fans would explode for Black to be elevated to his rightful place in the World title picture.
1 Needs Time: Anna Jay
Anna Jay is only 24 years old, yet she's one of the most recognizable stars on the AEW women's roster. Her look and character work jump off the AEW television screen. She has a career record of 52 and 25. Yet, Anna Jay is only 2-8 in 2023, suggesting her joining the Jericho Appreciation Society hasn't elevated the young star. Jay needs time to break out in the women's division. She has been lost in the shuffle with her pairing with Jericho and also as a tag team partner with Tay Melo. AEW needs to invest in Anna Jay now, and give her the time she needs to queenslay the women's division.
