5 Ways Edge & Christian Are Similar (& 5 Ways They're Different)

In terms of the greatest duos of all time, there are few that will be higher than Edge and Christian. The latter was one of the greatest tag teams ever and had the rare distinction of both men going on to become future world champions. Furthermore, their classics with The Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz are still among the most beloved ladder matches ever.

Even today, both Edge and Christian continue to wrestle at a high level. As both men are close friends and former tag team partners, they understandably still had a lot in common. That being said, there are a few key differences between the Hall of Famers.

10 Different: WrestleMania Main Event

Edge v The Undertaker WrestleMania 24 Cropped

Christian has had some incredible matches at WrestleMania over the years. However, he's never gotten to headline the show, which is understandable. It's a very small club, which many legends aren't a part of.

However, Edge has been able to headline the historic event not once, but twice. Although he didn't have much success, losing to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 24, and Roman Reigns in the WrestleMania 37 triple threat match that also featured Daniel Bryan.

9 Similar: Former World Champions

Christian Cage Double Champion

While Christian never reached the heights that Edge did, he did have several big moments of his own. In fact, he's won world titles in not only the WWE but also Impact, and the NWA. Cage has had too many title reigns to count.

Edge, meanwhile, has only held world titles in the WWE. That being said, he has had incredible reigns with the WWE title, World Heavyweight Championship, and more. One thing is for sure, the tag team partners have a lot of gold at home.

8 Different: Title Reigns

Edge and Christian are both former world champions, but how their title reigns went couldn't be any more different. For example, Captain Charisma famously had his first world title run in the WWE ended after just a few short days in 2011. Edge never had a title run that was that short and was always booked as a credible champion.

Funnily enough though, while Edge has more combined world title reigns, Christian's overall combined time as champion is longer thanks to his stints in Impact. While both are legends, they each took a different route to get there.

7 Similar: Unretired

Christian v Randy Orton Raw June 15 2020 Cropped

It's incredibly saddening that Edge and Christian were both forced into medical retirement. In 2011, the Rated-R Superstar famously retired due to spinal issues. In 2014, Christian retired due to concussion issues.

Nearly a decade later, each man is back due to advances in medical science, and years of recovery time. The fact that they were each able to return, let alone at a high level is insane.

6 Different: Move Set

Edge v Roman Reigns Money in the Bank 2021 Cropped

Edge and Christian do have a lot in common, even in terms of how they compete. They do have a lot of similar wrestling moves in common, but, it seems that there is a clear difference in how they use them.

For his part, Christian has always been the more creative wrestler with a wider move set. Meanwhile, Edge has mostly kept to the basics but has done them incredibly well.

5 Similar: Extreme

Edge & Christian v The Dudley Boyz v The Hardy Boyz SummerSlam 2000 Cropped

While Edge and Christian do have a different move set, it's clear that the two do love some good old-fashioned extreme wrestling. That's far from a shocking statement, given that they're pioneers of the TLC match.

However, regardless of those TLC matches, Edge and Christian have always been willing to go the extra mile. In hindsight, no wonder they were forced to retire early.

4 Different: Hall of Fame

Edge WWE Hall of Fame 2012

In case it's not clear by now, WWE, for whatever reason, never viewed Christian as highly as Edge. That was seen whenever the two were in the company, but that was also seen in retirement. Just one year after being medically forced to retire, Edge was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Meanwhile, Christian wasn't inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame after his retirement and still isn't there now. While he'll likely get there someday, one has to wonder if he'll end up in the Impact Hall of Fame first.

3 Similar: Hockey Fans

In terms of stuff outside the ring, Edge and Christian are both die-hard hockey fans. As recently as earlier this year, the two friends were spotted at an NHL playoff game, despite being a part of competing companies.

For his part, Edge is a lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan, as is Christian. However, the latter also has a soft spot for the Florida Panthers.

2 Different: Careers

Edge And Christian Show

Edge and Christian have a lot in common, but their wrestling careers were vastly different. While both were world champions and legends, they both attained that status differently. Edge was seemingly groomed to be the star of the group, and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

Meanwhile, Christian had to flock to Impact and later AEW to showcase his own skills and gain respect. While one isn't any better than the other, their wrestling careers were massively different.

1 Similar: Canadian

Edge And Christian

Edge and Christian are lifelong friends, meeting in Ontario when the two were kids. While some people aren't exactly proud of their nationality, the two legends have made it very clear they're happy with their Canadian heritage.

Furthermore, Edge himself has admitted that he's thinking about retiring in Canada for his final match. While the two do have things that differentiate them, the love for their homeland isn't one of them.
