5 Reasons The Show Should Be One Night (& 5 Reasons It's Best To Be Two Nights)
With Coronavirus causing a major change to the wrestling landscape, WWE has made the decision to split WrestleMania 36 into a two-day event this year. It is certainly something different and it will be historic. Of course, the decision is not to everyone's taste, with some fans wishing that the event was still just one night. However, there are positives and negatives to both sides of that argument.
Within this list, we will take a look at the options WWE had for WrestleMania 36 and give five reasons why it should have just been a one night show, and five reasons why two-nights is the right choice.
10 ONE NIGHT: It's Less Awkward
While WWE is certainly making the best of the situation and trying to entertain people, it can't be denied that it is awkward watching wrestling with no fans. The lack of response or atmosphere makes the usual theatrics strange to watch. Even though there are moments that are very entertaining, there are also plenty of moments that are just plain strange.
But now WWE is giving us two-nights of that awkward feeling for the biggest show of the year. That's why it would have been better just happening on one night, getting it all over and done with straight away with less awkwardness for everyone.
9 TWO NIGHTS: It's A Lot Safer
This is probably the most important reason for WrestleMania 36 getting split over two nights. Right now, with the Coronavirus pandemic, the health and safety of people have never been more important. This includes WWE Superstars, who are not immune or invincible to this virus.

Having the show split into two nights means that there will be fewer people in the building each night. That means there is less chance of anything being spread and means that social distancing and isolation rules are being followed tightly. Safety is paramount right now, and a two-night show does that best.
8 ONE NIGHT: Give Fans NXT Takeover
Had WrestleMania 36 gone ahead as normal on the Sunday in Tampa Bay, the day before would have seen NXT Takeover: Tampa Bay take place. While it's clear WWE wants to give fans two nights of content, the normal schedule could have stuck.
Instead, WWE is giving away the Takeover matches on free television on the normal NXT weekly show, which feels like a big shame. These were big matches that deserved to be given a prime focus. Had WrestleMania just been one night, the Saturday could have still been the NXT Takeover event, which means that those talents would have still had their big day.
7 TWO NIGHTS: More Money
At the end of the day, WWE is a business and nothing is going to change that. The company is losing out on an incredible amount of money with the usual WrestleMania festivities not taking place. Therefore, the company is going to be doing everything it can to make the most of the situation to try and recover things where possible.
One way for that is to have the show happen on two-nights. Fans are more likely to subscribe to the WWE Network if there is more content to be enjoyed. Plus, they might be able to promote more merchandise to sell throughout both nights with a wider audience.
6 ONE NIGHT: It'll Be A Shorter Show
At first, when WWE split WrestleMania into two nights, it seemed like they were both going to be shorter shows to make things feel quicker and less awkward. However, that appears to have changed. WWE has added plenty of matches to both nights now, with each card being lengthy, which defeats the initial purpose.
Had WWE just stuck to one night, they could have had a shorter run time to try and keep the event snappy and with as much energy as possible. However, now that the company has opted to drag it out over two days, there is a risk of both shows going on too long without any live audience.
5 TWO NIGHTS: Two Main Event Moments
WrestleMania not being in front of a live audience is most difficult for the wrestlers themselves. People dream of having that major WrestleMania moment and this year, that won't be happening. Talents like Drew McIntyre and Rhea Ripley had worked incredibly hard to finally have their own WrestleMania moment.
While that crowning moment with the pop of the crowd won't happen, WWE is making the most of its situation. With the two-night show, there will now be two different main events so that at least more talents will get involved in the headline spot.
4 ONE NIGHT: Stick With History
WrestleMania has never been done over two nights before and changing that seems very strange for many fans. We have had 35 previous events all just as one day, no matter how long the show has been.
Now, having two nights will see a big departure from history, which is a shame for such a historic event. On top of that, people may call for WWE to split its biggest event into two each year, which might give them a problem down the line as well.
3 TWO NIGHTS: It Could Be Historic
Everyone knows WWE loves to have a 'first-ever' moment. While having WrestleMania with no audience is certainly one of them, it isn't a situation WWE has created and it is not something WWE want to (and should not) put a positive spin on. However, splitting the show into two and promoting it as "too big for one night" is something that WWE can utilize.

This is a top marketing strategy from WWE's standpoint and they're making the best of a bad situation. They want people to remember this show for all the right reasons, and splitting it into two nights will do that. It makes people think it is more important and that helps it feel like WrestleMania.
2 ONE NIGHT: It'll Be A More Impressive Show
Because of the difficult circumstances, it is quite hard for wrestling to have the same feel due to there being no fans. The live response is a crucial part of professional wrestling and that has never been more clear than right now. Having two nights of awkwardly quiet wrestling in a row might end up being slightly too much for some people. In fact, it could end up damaging the overall quality.
Instead, WWE could have gone for just one night, as usual, but absolutely stacked the card. Having just the main matches that have had a good build-up would have created arguably a better show.
1 TWO NIGHTS: More Entertainment Value
Right now, with the current landscape of the world, everyone is looking for some escapism and entertainment. While there is plenty to keep people entertained, there is no live sport for people to enjoy. That's why WWE is doing such a great job at the moment, as it is providing an escape from reality for its audience.
Everyone is enjoying a few hours of thinking about nothing but wrestling and the over-the-top melodrama that comes along with it, and that's why splitting Wrestlemania into two nights is the right call. It allows wrestling fans to just take themselves out of the world and not focus on other issues for two whole nights. This will be great for peoples' mental health and happiness. After everything we've been through, people deserve a little fun.
