10 Worst Wrestlers To Main Event WCW PPVs

Even during WCW’s boom periods, their PPV events were sometimes headlined by questionable names. Over the years, there have been some lower card individuals, over-pushed bad quality wrestlers and even celebrities who have tried their hand in the squared circle who have main evented a PPV in WCW.

There are actually a fair few candidates when looking at the worst of the worst main eventers in WCW PPV history, and narrowing them down is quite a tough job. Amongst the all-time legends such as Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Ric Flair and more who have been at the top of the PPV ladder, there have been some stinkers too.

10 David Arquette - Slamboree 2000

It would be remiss to not include David Arquette when talking about the worst WCW main eventers. Despite being a notable celebrity and despite clearly putting in a decent effort, the fact that he was in a WCW World Heavyweight Championship main event as the champion will forever be a horrendous piece of wrestling history.

Arquette was helped along by the work of Jeff Jarrett and Diamond Dallas Page in this triple cage match at Slamboree 2000. If he were to fend for himself in a singles match back then, it would have been catastrophic.

9 Paul E. Dangerously - Great American Bash 1991

There is no denying that Paul Heyman is one of the greatest managers of all time, but unfortunately when he stepped into the ring under the Paul E. Dangerously moniker at Great American Bash 1991, it was atrocious.

In what was initially supposed to be a mixed tag which saw Missy Hyatt team with Rick Steiner to take on Arn Anderson and Paul E ended up being a poor, quick and bland handicap match which had no business being the main event of a PPV.

8 KroniK - Halloween Havoc 2000

Goldberg Vs Kronik Halloween Havoc 2000 Cropped

The KroniK duo of Bryan Clarke and Brian Adams weren’t necessarily the worst tag team on the planet, but they had little business being on the card let alone in the main event of a WCW PPV.

They were basic workers with nothing special about them, and they were squashed in under five minutes by Goldberg at the Halloween Havoc 2000 PPV. Why this was a main event match is anyone’s guess.

7 The Shockmaster - Fall Brawl 1993

Shockmaster

The Shockmaster’s botched debut is among the most infamous moments of all time, and that in itself led to many forgetting about his terrible contribution in the main event of Fall Brawl 1993.

He was stiff, bland and was nowhere near good enough to be inside the historic War Games structure. The only saving grace of this match was the fact that The Shockmaster was no longer wearing the shiny stormtrooper helmet, but that didn't change the fact that he still looked terrible.

6 Steve McMichael - Uncensored 1997, Fall Brawl 1997

Steve-McMichael-

Steve McMichael may have developed somewhat of a cult following in recent times, but there is no denying just how poor he was in the ring. Just because he was laughably bad doesn’t excuse him from being among the worst main eventers in WCW PPV history.

Thankfully he was slightly protected by only appearing in two War Games PPV main events, meaning that the vastly more talented individuals in the match did all the heavy lifting in terms of in-ring quality.

5 The Butcher - Starrcade 1994, Fall Brawl 1995

Hulk Hogan pointing at The Butcher

Whether it be under the name of The Butcher or The Zodiac, the former Brutus Beefcake is up there with the very worst main eventers ever in WCW. His match with Hulk Hogan at Starrcade 1994 was simply abhorrent, and the War Games match a year later wasn’t much better.

As part of the Dungeon of Doom, he was part of a bland group of heels who looked to try and take down the super babyface team led by Hogan. He was only in these spots due to his friendship with The Hulkster, which made his involvement feel ten times worse.

4 Kevin Greene - Slamboree 1997

Kevin Greene’s foray into the professional wrestling world is better forgotten about because he had zero business being inside the ring - let alone in the main event of a PPV.

The football star was brought in to be a draw, but he ended up with a reputation of being among WCW’s worst celebrity wrestlers - and that is saying something because WCW have a bad list of celebrity cameos throughout their career.

3 Jay Leno - Road Wild 1998

Speaking of terrible celebrity wrestlers, Jay Leno must surely take the cake for being the single worst in WCW history. His cameo appearance teaming with Diamond Dallas Page to take on Eric Bischoff & Hollywood Hulk Hogan at Road Wild 1998 main event may have done some business, but it doesn’t mean it was good.

Leno was not helped at all by the others involved in this match, and it is bouts like this that could well make people ashamed to follow wrestling.

2 Z-Gangsta - Uncensored 1996

Zeus

Uncensored 1996 hosted one of the very worst main events in WCW PPV history. Inside of the Doomsday Cage, the Mega Powers reunited to take on ‘The Alliance To End HulkaMania”. This felt like a Hogan wet dream, and it was just as bad many would have expected.

One addition to this match was Z-Gangsta, who was better known as Zeus - Hogan’s foe in the No Holds Barred movie and very brief actual wrestler. Much like in WWE, he had no business being in a PPV main event, with him being even worse here.

1 The Ultimate Solution - Uncensored 1996

UltimateSolution

Z-Gangsta wasn’t the only awful wrestler to compete in the Uncensored 1996 main event, as ‘The Ultimate Solution’ was even worse. The Ultimate Solution had wrestled a handful of matches before he was randomly brought onto the heel side for this match.

He may have had an impressive size and physique, but he should not have been in the ring, especially not for a main event.
