10 Times The Shows Had Unexpected Crossovers
Over the years, Archer and Bob's Burgers have shared many crossovers, as their creators acknowledge the shared background of the shows.
Bob's Burgers and Archer have many similarities that have solidified both shows' legacies and popularity among their fans. These similarities have also encouraged fans of one show to become fans of the other, and vice-versa. The most obvious similarity is the voice of the male protagonist in both shows being voiced by the same actor, H. Jon Benjamin. Audiences have long pointed out how Benjamin's distinct voice cannot be masked or altered, creating an automatic crossover between Sterling Archer and Bob Belcher.
Over the years, the two shows have shared many crossovers, as their creators, writers, and actors acknowledge the dynamic shared background between both shows.
10 Archer Marries Linda
Archer begins season four with a surprise for fans of both shows. Archer, unable to deal with his mom leaving him for another man, has run away from home. He ends up in Wander Wharf, with total amnesia and ends up married to Linda Belcher. Where is Bob? Why has Linda married another man? Archer makes reference to the kids being his step-children, so Bob is definitely not Archer, although they might be voiced by the same narrator, H. Jon Benjamin.
Archer soon abandons his new family, leaving a whole lot of questions unanswered about the Bob's Burgers world. Perhaps Archer married a Linda from a parallel universe, which would also explain his coma dream sphere. John Roberts, who voices Linda, reprises his role in this crossover.
9 Cyril Is Bob's Best Friend
Bob has always claimed that Warren Fitzgerald is his best friend, even though he very rarely sees or talks to Warren. His family believes that Teddy is actually Bob's best friend, but Bob rejects this idea. Warren comes to visit Bob, and the family discovers that Warren is now a millionaire. Bob had originally believed Warren to be the cool guy in their crew, but Warren believes Bob was the cool guy. The argument is mute since the two were essentially the only members of their crew, minus the exchange student who couldn't speak English. Warren is voiced by Chris Parnell, who voices Cyril on Archer.
8 Gene Is Cheryl's Twin Sister
Millionaire, Cheryl Tunt has a twin brother, Cecil, whom she loathes with all her being. Cecil has always been scared of Cheryl since childhood because Cheryl is out of control. When their parents die in an automobile accident, the twins inherit a billion-dollar fortune to be split equally. Cecil gives away all his money to projects that aim to better Earth. (Interestingly, his sealab project crosses over Captain Murphy from Sealab 2021, also created by both Adam Reed and Matt Thompson.)
Cecil is voiced by Eugene Mirman, who also voiced Gene Belcher. Cecil also looks like Gene, and has the similar laidback disposition of Gene.
7 Gene And Louise Are Dating In Archer
A famous brother-sister duo, Gene and Louise are close friends and close siblings. They go everywhere together, do everything together and look out for each other. However, in the season four two-part episode, titled, "Sea Tunt," Cecil is dating Tiffy. The two lovers voiced by Eugene Mirman and Kristen Schaal, also voice Gene and Louise respectively. This is perhaps one of the weirdest/creepiest crossovers for fans of the show who are used to both voices interacting on-screen as siblings, rather than calling each other "honey."
6 Len Trexler Kidnaps The Belchers
Head of the much better spy agency, ODIN, Len Trexler is also Malory Archer's former lover. He is still in love with Malory and offers to both buy out her company and marry her so that he can take care of her. This is a callback to Jeffrey Tambor (voice of Trexler) playing George, who is married to Lucille Bluth, played by Jessica Walter (voice of Malory) on Arrested Development. Tambor also voices Captain Flarty on the Bob's Burgers' episode, "Mutiny On The Windbreaker," when he kidnaps the Belchers so Bob can continue to make him his delicious burgers.
5 Captain Murphy Is A Talking Toilet
When the crew reach the sealab, they find Captain Murphy alone in the entire lab. This is an inside joke from Thompson and Reed, who always ended each episode of Sealab 2021 with the death of all the crew at the hands of Captain Murphy. The crazy Captain Murphy is voiced by John Hamm, who takes on an agitated tone when addressing the ISIS crew. In the same year, Hamm voiced a cool and calm automated toilet in Bob's Burgers.
The stolen toilet falls off a truck and is discovered by Gene, who takes care of it like it's his baby. Eugene Mirman (Gene) would play John Hamm's (Captain Murphy's) boss in "Sea Tunt."
4 Detective Diedrich Teaches Stuntman Boot Camp In Wonder Wharf
Incompetent and stupid, Detective Diedrich bears similarities to Darnell, a similarly incompetent and stupid stuntman boot camp instructor. Detective Diedrich appears in season seven of Archer, a season which was an ode to the film noir movie genre. Rather than use the trope of the competent detective solving the case, Thompson and Reed use banal detectives who seem to miss every clue presented to them and arrest the wrong people. Similarly, Darnell's stuntman boot camp in Wonder Wharf does not burn calories as it promises. Instead, it just puts his clients in heavily bodily harm, like being set on fire, or jumping through glass. Both characters are voiced by Keegan Michael-Key.
3 Jairo Bullied Archer
Jairo is a hot, sexy jerk, according to Tina Belcher. Brazilian Jairo (voiced by Jon Glaser) bullies Bob in his first introduction on Bob's Burgers, back in season one. He uses his sexy ponytail to whip Bob at the same time as he kicks Bob. This disorients Bob, who falls on his butt and accidentally soils himself as a result. On Archer, Glaser reprises the role of a bully as the hedge fund owner, Trent Whitney, who bullied Archer severely in high school, including when he peed in a toilet and forced Archer's head into the toilet. In both shows, Glaser bullies H. Jon Benjamin.
2 Archer Was In A Shoot Out With Marbles
Ray Gillette's brother, Randy, appears in an episode of Archer after Randy needs help from the local police who want to take Randy's pot farm away from him. Archer follows him to help him, which ends up with Ray and Archer in a shoot-out with the police. Jack McBrayer, who voices Randy, also voices LGBTQ+ character, Marbles, in Bob's Burgers. Marbles, a transgender sex worker, befriends Bob when Bob takes on a side gig as a taxi driver.
1 The Prince Of Persuasia Is An Assassin
Local grifter, the Prince of Persuasia, is a pick-up artist who teaches Dr. Yap how to hook up with woman. Known locally as "The Deuce," the scam artist has made many videos on how to achieve long-term goals through short-term lies. He is voiced by Rob Huebel, who also voices Patrick "Crash" McCaren, a Canadian assassin wanted dead by the CIA.
