10 Things UFC Fans Should Know About The Rampage Jackson vs Rashad Evans Feud
Light Heavyweight is arguably one of the most contentious divisions in the UFC, sparking some of the best rivalries in UFC history. If a fight in one of the most popular divisions in UFC history is a spark for a fantastic rivalry then there is no greater kindling than being a coach opposite your opponent on the UFC reality show, The Ultimate Fighter.

For Rashad Evans and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, this was the path of their rivalry. A clash of egos and conflicting personalities took us on a wild ride through the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter and culminated in a night to remember at UFC 114.
10 The Ultimate Fighter
The Ultimate Fighter reality show excels at two things for the UFC: bringing in fresh and exciting talent into the UFC, and the promotion of an exciting fight between two rival coaches who have had to deal with each other's antics throughout the show.
There is only one gym with which coaches on The Ultimate Fighter have to train their fighters. As one could imagine scheduling and sharing time with two hot-headed coaches is no easy task. This brews the beginning of a great rivalry.
9 Unending Trash Talk
Rampage and Rashad are not ones to back down when someone talks trash to them. This led to multiple altercations in the UFC gym between the two fighters.
More than once the fighters that they were training were forced to step in between the two to stop physical altercations from taking place. Dana White even said it was going to be a long season with those two.
8 Tough Start
The Ultimate Fighter is a tournament-style bracket of 8 guys from Rashad's team competing against 8 guys from Rampage's team. At 7 fights into the series, Rampage Jackson's team had yet to win one.
As one would imagine losing 7 times in a row is not taken lightly for someone as competitive as Rampage. This fueled Rampage's anger towards Rashad and of course, it did not help that Rashad did not shy away from flaunting his victories.
7 Verbal Confrontation
After Team Rampage's 5th consecutive loss to Team Rashad on The Ultimate Fighter Rampage, he stormed off the set immediately after the fight without checking on his fighter to see if he was okay. Justin Wren had defeated Wes Sims via arm triangle.
Rashad did not appreciate this lack of concern for the fighter and this led to a heated verbal exchange outside the team's locker rooms where the two fighters had to be held back from each other by their fighters.
6 TUF Pranks And Competitions
One of the celebrated fun things that happen each season on The Ultimate Fighter is coaches' pranks. This season is no different with Rampage pranking Rashad twice. For the first prank, Rampage got an unsightly caricature drawing of Rashad done and hung it in the training center. Then Rampage and his team put chickens in the cars of Team Rashad.

Another regular event on The Ultimate Fighter is the coaches' challenge, an event where both teams' coach partakes in a sporting match that is not fighting-related. This season was volleyball and in a close match, Rashad won.
5 The Door Incident
There are a total of 8 fights in the first round of The Ultimate Fighter. Team Rampage lost the first seven fights, and it set Rampage off after losing the seventh consecutive fight in a row.
Rampage threw a fit, walking away from the cage, throwing a water bottle, and famously destroying a door to the locker room area almost tearing it off the wall completely. Dana White would joke that Rampage showed how cheap their doors were.
4 The Ultimate Fighter Winner
The final of The Ultimate Fighter was Brendan Schaub vs. Roy "Big Country" Nelson. Both of these fighters were on Team Rashad which ate away at Rampage losing in such a landslide as a coach to Rashad.
Roy Nelson ended up winning via first-round KO over Brendan Schaub. Both fighters would go on to have decent fighting careers in the UFC and for Roy later in Bellator. This season of The Ultimate Fighter produced other stars like Matt Mitrione and Justin Wren.
3 A-Team Movie
The fight between Rampage and Rashad initially had to be postponed due to Rampage being busy. He was filming for the movie, The A-Team and was unable to get the right training for the fight.
This further gave weight to the issues Rashad had with Rampage's professionalism as a fighter. For Rampage though, this would be the beginning of his budding film career which he still keeps up to the time of writing this article.
2 The Weigh-In
After months of incessant trash talk, they lined up to face each other in a 3 round fight in the main event of UFC 114 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The time for trash talk was over, both fighters were locked in and focus ready for a 3 round war.

1 The Fight
In the first round, Rampage got tagged by Rashad and spent the rest of the round off his back. Round two was more of the same from Rashad using clinch and wrestling to control the round against Rampage.
Round three starts and Rampage tags Rashad hard, almost finishing him. Rashad was able to regain his wits and get to his feet to take Rampage down again and control the fight from the ground. Rashad won a unanimous decision victory.
