10 Most Unlikable Stables In WWE History, Ranked
Aside from stages in the Attitude Era, WWE has never really been a faction-reliant promotion, with it being more common in other promotions over the years. There have still been quite a lot of groups over the course of WWE history within different eras, though not all of them have been great.
5 Current WWE Wrestlers That Should Lead A Stable (& 5 That Shouldn't)
While some current WWE wrestlers would be incredible leaders of factions, others wouldn't work well in the role.In fact, some have been entirely unlikable. Whether that be by design or just due to the faction being so bad that fans hated them (or worse, were indifferent), there are various examples of unlikable, evil, detestable, and also boring alliances over the years.
10 The Corre Had No Edge Whatsoever
A Cheap Nexus
Corre Members |
|---|
Wade Barrett |
Heath Slater |
Justin Gabriel |
Ezekiel Jackson |
A few Nexus members branched off to become The Corre after CM Punk took control of the faction, and The Corre also acquired the services of Ezekiel Jackson to add to their ranks. They had all the tools to become a success, but they had no intimidation, little character, and it just felt like a Nexus parody - in a completely negative sense.
Even with championships around their waists, fans did not get behind The Corre. It wasn’t even as though they were “cool heels” or anything, they were just unlikable, boring, and basic, which was a shame given some of the talent involved, such as Wade Barrett, who WWE squandered continuously.
9 The Mean Street Posse Hardly Had Anything To Offer
Shane McMahon’s Hired Goons
Mean Street Posse Members |
|---|
Rodney |
Joey Abs |
Pete Gas |
The Mean Street Posse were brought in as essentially henchmen to Shane McMahon, and they were introduced with the blandest image and presentation possible. Everything from their attire to the fact that they were just hired goons for Shane McMahon made them very unlikable.
The only reason why they aren’t further down this list is because instead of hating them for the long run, fans lost interest, especially after they split with McMahon and dropped down into enhancement talent level.
8 The Un-Americans Had A Typical Foreign Heel Gimmick
Another Foreign Heel Act
Un-Americans Members |
|---|
Christian |
Lance Storm |
Test |
William Regal |
The Un-American faction hated on America, which caused them to very easily gain a lot of hatred and heat from the WWE audience. It was an easy gimmick to garner backlash, but either way this makes them one of the more unlikable groups in WWE history.
Although they did come from the Team Canada act, the Un-Americans developed into being anti-American rather than pro-Canadian, especially when the Englishman William Regal was brought into the occasion. They proved to be a fairly successful act and everyone got to show some heel charisma.
7 Fans Got Sick Of Retribution Immediately
Another Much Cheaper Nexus
Retribution Members |
|---|
Mustafa Ali |
T-Bar |
MACE |
Slapjack |
Reckoning |
Retaliation |
During the lockdown era of WWE, the “Retribution” act debuted. They were masked bandits who ransacked superstars, the arena, and more, all in order to destroy WWE (or something).
10 Former Wrestling Factions Who Disappeared Into Oblivion
These WWE stables had failed runs and disappeared into oblivion, considering nobody talks about them anymore.Despite running the same sort of debut as Nexus, this one had no impact, no personality, and its lack of direction was hard to watch. Even though there were no real fans in the arena, the backlash to this act online was evident. Even when the members were revealed it didn’t change anything, as it was still despised by fans.
6 SmackDown Was Run By The Cabinet, Much To The Dismay Of Fans
JBL’s Gang Of Cronies
The Cabinet Members |
|---|
JBL |
Orlando Jordan |
Basham Brothers |
Jillian Hall |
Amy Weber |
JBL’s reign as WWE Champion saw him enlist the help of The Cabinet. There were some fairly talented names involved, but an issue with the group was that their chemistry wasn’t very strong, and they lacked any sort of individuality.
JBL was an unlikable champion anyway, but it was taken to the next level when he had cronies doing his bidding for him. The simple fact that they were helping one of the most despised heels of the Ruthless Aggression Era was enough to make the Cabinet among the most unlikable.
5 The Truth Commission Fell Flat On Its Face
A Failed WWE Project
Truth Commission Members |
|---|
The Jackyl |
The Commandant |
Recon |
Sniper |
Kurrgan |
Tank |
The Truth Commission was a militant-type group who had some sort of potentially offensive agenda, though thankfully it wasn’t explored too deeply before the act was eventually dropped.
The members of the group had very little personality, and that didn’t help in fans just hating this both inside and outside of kayfabe. It was plain bad and not enjoyable.
4 The Authority Had A Reign Of Terror Over WWE Programming
WWE’s Biggest Heel Act Of The 2010s
The Authority Members |
|---|
Triple H |
Stephanie McMahon |
Mr. McMahon |
Seth Rollins (individually) |
The Shield |
New Age Outlaws |
J&J Security |
Kane |
Big Show |
Randy Orton |
Scott Armstrong |
The 2010s saw the rise of Triple H & Stephanie McMahon as heel authority figures, and they brought together their own group called “The Authority”. This helped to ensure their control over the product and the ability to crown the names they wanted as champions.
They were a great heel act, and the babyface who rose over the years were always cheered on so much more because they were taking on the hated Authority. The group is an example of a heel act being so hated because they were so effective.
3 The Corporation Were WWE’s Biggest Heel Group
Mr. McMahon’s Evil Heel Group
The Corporation Members |
|---|
Mr. McMahon |
The Rock |
Shane McMahon |
Triple H |
Ken Shamrock |
Big Show |
Kane |
Shawn Michaels |
Gerald Brisco |
Pat Patterson |
Chyna |
Big Boss Man |
Sgt Slaughter |
Test |
The first iteration of The Authority came with The Corporation, and they were so hated for all the same reasons. Vince McMahon was so much more detestable though as the man leading the line, and that made The Corporation so much more unlikable.
WWE was at its peak in terms of excitement and investment during the Attitude Era, and McMahon’s faction was the biggest heel stable at the time.
2 League Of Nations Had No Likability Factor
Talented Names With No Direction
League Of Nations Members |
|---|
Sheamus |
Alberto Del Rio |
Rusev |
Wade Barrett |
Even though the League of Nations was made up of some brilliant wrestlers, they were handed the role of being henchmen to Vince McMahon with very little personality.
10 Most Overrated Factions In WWE History
Some WWE stables simply weren't as entertaining as fans made them out to be.Their promos were cold, fans didn’t care, and they failed to make any sort of real impact in the long term. Even with Sheamus reigning as WWE Champion, nobody wanted to watch this group. They were the opposite to The Corporation in a way - they were hated because they were just bad as a group.
1 Triangle Of Terror Were The Most Stereotypical Heel Faction Ever
Fodder To Hulk Hogan
Triangle Of Terror Members |
|---|
Sgt. Slaughter |
Gen. Adnan |
Col. Mustafa |
Hulk Hogan battled plenty of hated heels throughout his time on top of WWE, but perhaps his most detested set of rivals was the Triangle of Terror group. This was as anti-American as you can get, with all the tropes thrown in to make fans boo them.
Even though storylines with Hogan and Ultimate Warrior were basic and lacked creativity, fans at the time ate it up and absolutely despised this faction. They are the most unlikable heel faction act of all time with no redeeming qualities from a character perspective.
