10 Former Female Employees WWE Likes To Ignore

To be fair, the title of this article is a bit of a misnomer - there are a ton, A TON of ladies that have come into the WWE’s purview that are no longer spoken about. But some just didn’t have that big of an impact to warrant mentioning when going over the history of women’s wrestling.

Ask yourselves; “does anyone care about the legacy of Amy Weber, Ryan Shamrock, or even Nidia, the first winner of Tough Enough?” However, there are plenty of former Divas and women’s wrestlers that don’t get mentioned for whatever reason but still have some sort of legacy that should be honored.

10 AJ Lee

AJ Lee Divas Champion Cropped

As the Bella Twins were acquiring new fans thanks to the Total Divas reality show, AJ Lee was doing her best to bring those fans and more into the ring. During the vapid Divas Era where more often than not, the girls were either girls-next-door or holier-than-thou bombshells, AJ Lee was one of the few ladies who had a character. She was “the crazy chick,” and she wanted to do nothing more than compete and in a lot of ways she did for the ladies what CM Punk did for the men; albeit on a much smaller scale. But because of her marriage, Lee isn’t going to get credit for affecting changes anytime soon.

9 Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn As Divas Champion Cropped

Debuting as part of the NXT “game show,” Kaitlyn was a different kind of bombshell. During an era where Vince wanted “athletic 10s,” he got one in Kaitlyn. But she was also a fitness fanatic with musculature to rival some of the smaller men. She left the company in 2013 and returned for a cameo during the second Mae Young Classic.

There has been a rumor swirling around for years about backstage heat with Stephanie McMahon, which could serve as explanation at least on WWE’s end why the buff and buxom bombshell isn’t a fixture in today’s women’s division.

8 The Sensational Sherri

Sensational Sherri Cropped

There should be a humongous question mark above The Sensational Queen’s head when it comes to constant omission from WWE history. Even during the first-ever Queen Of The Ring tournament, no mention of Sherri was made as the first queen. Several years back when the company rightfully dropped Moolah’s name from the WrestleMania battle royal, there was a call to have it renamed The Sensational Invitational, but that fell on deaf ears. Before women were allowed to do it all in WWE, Sherri Martel didn’t just do it all in WWE, but did it all in the wrestling industry, period. Now bow!

7 Stacy Carter

Stacey Carter The Kat

It’s no surprise why Miss Kitty aka The Kat is never mentioned anymore. Never mind the fact that when she was let go, her then-husband Jerry "The King" Lawler felt compelled to stand by his woman. But her most memorable moments came during the Attitude Era and are just not family friendly at all; up to and including a series of matches with Terri Runnels that involved putting each other’s derrières into their faces for the victory. But at least she stood for the kind of independence and free spirit that anyone wants, whether they agreed with The Kat’s own personal convictions.

6 Chyna

Chyna Cropped

The Ninth Wonder Of The World was the first real leap in the women’s evolution. The mid-nineties had valets like Sunny, Sable, and Marlena running around. Then came Chyna, a powerhouse whose popularity grew all throughout the Attitude Era as a member of DX and then on her own. Sadly, real life crept into her professional life and by all accounts, she was unable to overcome what happened to her, and she had asked for an exorbitant amount of money to re-sign, which was not granted. Aside from not ignoring her when DX was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame, her accomplishments largely go unmentioned.

5 Tori

Kane And Tori Cropped

Another member of DX, another member that goes ignored. Tori debuted as Sable’s number one fan/stalker. The Portland, Oregon, native and former bodybuilder was actually trained by Roddy Piper as well as Brad Rheingans. After being brought into feud with Sable, she was moved over into a program with Kane and X-Pac that helped to humanize the Big Red Machine.

4 Gail Kim

Some ladies on this list should be honored for their accomplishments, some should have been able to accomplish more during their WWE run. Gail Kim falls under the latter statement’s purview. Both times she was part of the WWE roster, she was overlooked and under booked.

She even immediately rolled out of the ring at the start of a Divas battle royal to prove a point. She’s accomplished so much, but unfortunately it was for TNA.

3 Sunny

Once, Sunny seemed to be poised to become the queen of WWE. She was nearly on every show and managed several tag teams to championship glory. But erratic behavior caused her release and even more erratic behavior outside the ring has caused Sunny to become a tragedy instead of the triumph she could be, if she ever gets the help she needed. Her fans have loved her from minute one and are always pulling for her to get better.

2 The Fabulous Moolah

When enough people tell a similar version of the same story, chances are where there’s smoke there’s fire. In that regard rightfully so, considering the stories that have orbited around the legacy of The Fabulous Moolah for years now.

When WWE tried to name the women’s WrestleMania battle royal in her honor, the immediate backlash caused the company to retract her name from the match and begin to redact her name from history.

1 Sable

Sable Cropped

Similar to Sunny, Sable once had the entire WWE Universe in the palm of her hand. Jealous colleagues caused the former Diva to seek her release and retribution in a lawsuit. She returned to the WWE in 2003 and that’s when she met her future husband, Brock Lesnar. She presumably wants to live a quiet life and unless you want an angry Beast Incarnate breathing down your neck, perhaps it’s best to leave Sable out of history.
