WWE created a lot of intrigue by announcing a Hair vs Hair match between Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville for this year's SummerSlam before the stipulation was changed to a Loser Leaves WWE match. It would have been the first Hair match in WWE for 6 years, with the last bout happening in NXT between Enzo Amore and Sylvester Lefort in 2014. Without further ado, let's relive the very best hair matches from pro wrestling's past.
10 The Von Erichs Vs The Dynamic Duo - WCCW Cotton Bowl Extravaganza 1985
The presence of a syndicated television program saw the Texas-based World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) achieve tremendous success in the early '80s. Owner Fritz Von Erich built the company around his sons who were the most popular babyfaces in Texas.

Nearly 30,000 people flocked the Cotton Bowl arena in 1985 to be a part of the WCCW Cotton Bowl Extravaganza where Kerry and Kevin Von Erich took on hated heels Chris Adams and Gino Hernandez (The Dynamic Duo) in a Hair vs Hair match main event.
The Texas fans were firmly behind the Von Erichs and the crowd roared its approval when Kerry pinned Adams. The Von Erichs proceeded to shave both Hernandez and Adams bald to send the fans home happy.
9 Eddie Guerrero Vs Chavo Guerrero - Bash At The Beach 1998
During their WCW days, Eddie and Chavo Guerrero found themselves taking part in a confusing angle. The overbearing Eddie tried to force his nephew to adopt his cheating ways, but the babyface Chavo wanted nothing to do with it and the pressure eventually drove the latter crazy.
The two were booked to have a Hair vs Hair match at the Bash at the Beach PPV in 1998. Despite having two technically proficient competitors in the ring, WCW booked a quick squash victory for Eddie at the event.
After the match, Eddie looked on in disbelief as Chavo proceeded to shave his own head to further enhance his 'loco' character.
8 "Rowdy" Roddy Piper Vs Adrian Adonis - WrestleMania III
After playing a pivotal role at the first two WrestleManias, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper returned to the WWF in 1987 during the buildup to WrestleMania III. He took on Adrian Adonis at the PPV with a Hair vs Hair stipulation.
Piper came out on top after using a Sleeper hold to subdue Adonis with some help from Brutus Beefcake. It was the recently turned babyface Brutus who cut off Adonis's hair, earning the nickname 'The Barber' which he used for the rest of his career.
Piper toned down his wrestling career after the match and made a foray into Hollywood, coming out with such movies like They Live, Hell comes to Frogtown, and Immortal Combat in the ensuing years.
7 Chris Jericho Vs Kevin Nash - RAW (July 28, 2003)
The year was 2003 and Kevin Nash was at the tail end of his final full time run with the WWE. Leading up to the six-men Elimination Chamber match at SummerSlam, Nash started a feud with fellow participant Chris Jericho. WWE added an extra bit of intrigue by booking a Hair vs Hair match between the two long-haired superstars on Raw.
It was Y2J who came out on top after a low blow and a brass knuckle shot to Big Sexy. Jericho would proceed to cut off large chunks of Nash's hair to pile on the embarrassment. In reality, Nash was offered a role in the new Punisher movie that required him to cut off his hair and Jericho was more than happy to take the heat.
6 EC3 Vs Rockstar Spud - Impact (March 13, 2015)
One of the few wrestlers to have been a part of the main and developmental rosters in both WWE and Impact Wrestling, Rockstar Spud first made a splash as part of the Team Dixie stable on Impact. After dissension in the group, Spud was attacked by EC3 which set up a Hair vs Hair match on the March 13, 2015, episode of Impact.

In a match that gave the current Drake Maverick his plucky underdog persona, Spud held his own before finally succumbing to EC3's power. Impact brass took notice and the very next week Spud won the X-Division Championship from Low-Ki.
5 Molly Holly Vs Victoria - WrestleMania XX
With WWE dropping the Hair vs Hair stipulation for the Mandy Rose vs Sonya Deville match, the Molly Holly vs Victoria Women's Championship match at WrestleMania XX remains the only instance of a female superstar losing her hair on WWE pay-per-view.
That 2004 match came about after Molly herself pitched the idea to WWE Creative as she was desperate to be on WrestleMania. Molly and Victoria had a great match, but the lasting image would always be Molly being strapped to a barber's chair while getting her head shaved bald.
Molly never grew her hair out again and was gone from the WWE after a year - but she had her Wrestlemania moment nonetheless.
4 CM Punk Vs Rey Mysterio - Over The Limit 2010
A decade ago, CM Punk was doing the same schtick as Seth Rollins of 2020 with his Straight Edge Savior gimmick mirroring The Monday Night Messiah. Punk also started a feud with Rey Mysterio and took on the masked luchador in a match at WWE Over the Limit 2010. The stipulation stated that Mysterio would join Punk's Straight Edge Society if Punk won and that Punk would lose his hair otherwise.
Mysterio came out on top with a roll-up and proceeded to shave Punk's head bald. This resulted in Punk wearing a black mask on SmackDown to hide his baldness which eventually led to a feud with The Big Show.
3 Vince McMahon Vs Donald Trump - Wrestlemania 23
The second Hair match to happen at Wrestlemania in four years, Vince McMahon and Donald Trump faced off against each other at Wrestlemania 23 with the aid of proxies. Bobby Lashley gained the victory for Trump after a Spear to McMahon's chosen superstar Umaga.
This resulted in Stone Cold Steve Austin coming out to personally force McMahon to honor the stipulation of the match. The enduring images of McMahon grimacing on the barber's chair while getting his head shaved bald and Austin delivering a post-match Stunner to the future US President ensured that Wrestlemania 23 would remain quite memorable for wrestling fans.
2 Kurt Angle Vs Edge - Judgement Day 2002
By the year 2002, Edge had transitioned himself away from the tag team scene and now needed a program with a prominent singles star to get to the next level. Enter Kurt Angle.
After Angle won their first PPV match at Backlash, a return match was set up at Judgement Day with a Hair vs Hair stipulation. After an exceptional battle, Edge beat Angle clean and proceeded to shave off the Olympic champion's hair. The segment established Edge as a serious singles competitor and by the time he won their final encounter on SmackDown with a Spear off the top rope, he was a made man in the company.
1 Jerry Lawler Vs Austin Idol - Memphis (April 27, 1987)
Jerry Lawler has long been the undisputed king of Memphis wrestling. So when the Memphis faithful saw their beloved 'King' getting embarrassed after a Hair vs Hair match in 1987, a riot broke out at the Mid-South Coliseum.
The match in question was also contested inside a steel cage as Lawler sought to end his year-long feud with Austin Idol. After a great back-and-forth match, Tommy Rich came out from underneath the ring to aid Idol. Lawler was beaten and the heels proceeded to cut off Lawler's hair.
It was the first high-profile instance of a babyface losing a Hair vs Hair match and the enraged fans scaled the cage as they tried to get their hands on Idol and Rich.
