The story of Hall and Nash sees two best friends essentially taking over the industry by being loyal to each other while holding leverage over anyone else. Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Chris Jericho all showed up at call time and realized none of the other wrestlers were there yet. Hall and Nash followed the WWE mindset of showing up on time, and Jericho wanted to make a big impression early in his career. The Outsiders met Jericho that day due to the most unlikely scenario of being early.

9 Had Tension With The Rock After He Clowned Them In Promo

The Rock promo to nWo Cropped

WWE signed Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Hulk Hogan to bring the New World Order act there in early 2002 about a year after they purchased WCW. There was real heat on the NWO joining since they were all viewed as huge reasons for the WCW locker room falling apart.

The Rock had tension with the Outsiders early when he cut a hilarious promo mocking their previous WWE characters of Diesel and Razor Ramon. Even though fans loved the promo, Hall and Nash were upset about being made to look weak. Nash has admitted on his podcast that he was wrong to not just take the joke since Rock was just being himself as a character.

The Kliq era of WWE was when Kevin Nash and Scott Hall first became best friends. Shawn Michaels, Triple H and X-Pac joined the Outsiders form the friendship clique that received a lot of heat. Nash has joked about a lot of wrestlers hating him in interviews because of his friends.

Names like Shane Douglas, Bam Bam Bigelow and Bob Holly had heat with Hall and Michaels, but they also buried Nash in interviews. The close association between Hall and Nash led to that existing for years with Nash realizing other wrestlers took exception to him due to his buddy.

7 Came Up With The Idea For Diamond Dallas Page's Push

DDP Kevin Nash

Diamond Dallas Page was a mutual friend of Kevin Nash and Scott Hall for years before any of them became huge stars. The Outsiders had more pull when they returned to WCW in the New World Order storyline, and they used that to pitch a great idea for DDP.

Eric Bischoff was another close friend and a neighbor to Page, but he feared pushing a buddy would be a bad look. Hall and Nash campaigned for DDP to have an angle turning down the NWO since fans were getting behind him. Their real-life friendship was even used to tell the story of the Outsiders recruiting Page.

6 Had Fight In The Ring With Nasty Boys

Nasty Boys

WCW had a wild backstage environment that often led to things playing out in the ring. The Outsiders and Nasty Boys almost had a real fight during their match in front of fans at a house show. Scott Hall and Jerry Sags got physical when neither man backed down during a moment of tension.

Sags threw some haymakers at Hall feeling he was working stiff before Hall hit him back with a few strikes leading to an awkward finish to the match. However, the chaos backstage was more fascinating as Kevin Nash allegedly had Sting’s baseball bat as a weapon ready to use against the Nasty Boys if it escalated.

5 They Were Blindsided By WrestleMania 18 Changes

Scott Hall Vs Steve Austin

The WWE run of the New World Order remains an all-time disappointment of what could have been. WrestleMania 18 was the end of the trio when Hulk Hogan turned face after his legendary match against The Rock when the Outsiders attacked him for showing sportsmanship.

WWE changed plans the day before the show to have the Hogan face turn that night. Scott Hall was originally scheduled to defeat Steve Austin with Kevin Nash’s help, but that plan changed due to the other variables. Nash and Hall were upset since this left them in the cold losing their match and Hogan in one night.

4 Manipulated A Young Goldberg During His Push

Kevin Nash Vs Goldberg

The early success of Goldberg saw him having a long undefeated streak and winning the WCW Championship within his first year. Multiple wrestlers claimed that Kevin Nash and Scott Hall tried to manipulate Goldberg by getting in his head about other wrestlers trying to take his spot.

Goldberg ended up having heat with both members of the Outsiders for years with comments back and forth in interviews. The way in which Goldberg’s streak ended with Hall using a cattle prod and Nash pinning him rubbed him the wrong after the instigating they did with him and others before that.

3 Scott Hall Convinced Kevin Nash To Join TNA

Kings Of Wrestling TNA

Kevin Nash had a much better TNA career than Scott Hall, but it was actually Hall who talked Nash into even giving the smaller company a chance. Hall was part of the first-ever TNA PPV and was trying to come up with an idea for a return a few years into the company’s growth.

Nash was coming off a WWE run, but he didn’t want to be on the road for that schedule and was trying to set up acting gigs. Hall talked Nash into giving TNA a chance since he lived in Florida close to the Impact Zone that was now their full-time home. The Outsiders joined Jeff Jarrett as the Kings of Wrestling heel trio, but Nash had a longer run on his own.

2 Alienated Dudley Boyz During First WWE Meeting

Dudley Boyz

The first night of the Outsiders returning to WWE with the New World Order saw them gaining heat with another top tag team. Scott Hall made an insulting comment when he and Kevin Nash met the Dudley Boyz as he stated he couldn’t wait to kick out of the 3D finisher.

This was the most protected tag team move of the era with only two wrestlers ever kicking out and both were outside of WWE. Another reason for this being awkward was the rumor of them having a potential tag match at WrestleMania 18 before WWE decided on a singles match between Hall and Steve Austin.

1 Clashed With Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff After Firing Syxx

NWO Hall Of Fame Induction

The New World Order splitting into two camps in storyline was something that many wrestlers claimed was already happening backstage. A huge rift started when Eric Bischoff reportedly fired Sean Waltman aka Syxx to send a message to his best friends Kevin Nash and Scott Hall since all three were known for not always following the rules and had their agent making his presence felt.

Things escalated when Hulk Hogan cut a promo burying Syxx for not being able to cut the mustard. Bischoff even confirmed on his podcast that rumors of Nash and Hogan butting heads were true. The Outsiders clashed with the other best friend tandem of Hogan and Bischoff during a short time together in the NWO.
